The reciter: And Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, 'Amr al-Naqid, and Zuhr ibn Harb all narrated to us from Ibn 'Uyaynah. Zuhr said: Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us from Ayyub ibn Musa from Nuhay' ibn Wahb from Aban ibn 'Uthman from 'Uthman, who traced it back to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
'Uthman (b. 'Affan) reported it directly from Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) that he said: A Muhrim should neithermarry (in that state) nor make the proposal of marriage. المحرم لا ينكح ولا يخطب
