Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, saying: Jarir ibn Hazm narrated to us, saying: Abu Fazarah narrated to us from Yazid ibn al-Asamm, who said: Maymunah bint al-Harith told me
that God’s messenger married her when he was not in the sacred state أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم تزوجها وهو حلال
Mishkat al-Masabih 2683
He said: "She was my maternal aunt and the maternal aunt of Ibn 'Abbas".

The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) presented the hadith of Maymunah after the hadith of Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), indicating that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is an exception to this general ruling, for he was permitted to marry while in a state of ihram, as narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas from him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was granted facilitation in matters related to marriage. However, the correct view is that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) erred in this matter, and that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married her while she was in a state of ihram, as she herself stated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married her while she was in a state of ihram. Likewise, Abu Rafi', who was the messenger between her and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), stated that he married her while she was in a state of ihram. However, it appears that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) did not know that he had married her until after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had entered the state of ihram, so he assumed that he had married her while she was in a state of ihram. Thus, he narrated that he married her while she was in a state of ihram. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) means that he did not know that he had married her until after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had entered the state of ihram, so he assumed that he had married her during his state of ihram. By this, the evidences are reconciled. It is said that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) did not know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had married Maymunah until after what? Until he had entered the state of ihram, so he assumed that he had married her while she was in a state of ihram. Yes.
