Benefits of the Hadith: (… Aisha said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married me in Shawwal and consummated the marriage with me in Shawwal …)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I only mentioned this because Shawwal, which is the month after Ramadan, was considered a place of ill omen and superstition in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. They used to say that if a woman married in this month, she would not be successful in her marriage. So Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) wanted to make it clear that this belief is invalid, and that there is no ill omen or superstition in time, place, people, or circumstances. The matter is entirely in the hand of whom? In the hand of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). So she says the contract was made in Shawwal and the consummation was in Shawwal, and yet Aisha was the most favored of his wives (peace and blessings be upon him). Thus, what the people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance believed was refuted. As for the commentator’s statement that it is recommended to do so in Shawwal, yes, it is recommended in Shawwal if the intention is to remove a corrupt belief. But if there is no reason necessitating that it be in Shawwal, then Shawwal and the other months are all the same. However, I say, as a matter of juristic insight from me, that it should not be the case that the consummation is in Sha'ban, for young men, and not in Ramadan, a fortiori. Because some young men, if they are recently married, cannot control themselves and will ruin their fast and have intercourse with their wives, and Satan urges them on and gives them a strong desire during the day and at night, perhaps being quieter at night, because Satan urges a person to do what is forbidden to him. For this reason, how many people have this issue occur to them: they marry close to Ramadan, and then intercourse and sexual relations occur during the day in Ramadan. But some of them resort to a trick, saying, "We will travel, and travel permits breaking the fast and permits intercourse." What is your opinion of this? This is forbidden. Travel is forbidden, breaking the fast is forbidden, and intercourse is forbidden. And some of them say, "We will travel, and when we reach the midpoint of the journey and arrive at a village, we will stop at the village and relieve ourselves with our wives, and then we will say, 'We sought guidance and turned back from the journey.'" Yes, this has happened, meaning we were asked about it. We ask Allah for safety. It is playing with the law of Allah, and this is forbidden. Now, what is the burden? You burden yourself with packing your bags, and then you do it only once or twice, or say ten times in a day, and you return to your town. If he had sought refuge in Allah from Satan and been patient, and praise be to Allah, if he cannot control himself, he does not enter the house; he stays in the mosque with his companions in the library until night comes, and praise be to Allah who has permitted women at night
It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. أحل لكم ليلة الصيام الرفث إلى نسائكم هن لباس لكم وأنتم لباس لهن علم الله أنكم كنتم تختانون أنفسكم فتاب عليكم وعفا عنكم
[Al-Baqarah 2:187]
The important thing is that what I see as juristic insight from me is that it should not be the case that the consummation is close to Ramadan or in Ramadan. As for in Ramadan, praise be to Allah, in our country there is no one who consummates in Ramadan, but close to Ramadan there are, but delaying is better, or advancing, meaning the consummation is after Ramadan or before it by a period of time.
