Continuation of the benefits of the previous hadith: (… from Anas that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) campaigned against Khaybar …)

The Shaykh : And among the benefits of this hadith is that it is recommended to say takbir (Allahu Akbar) when overcoming the enemies, because takbir indicates elevation and dominance. For this reason, it was the way of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) with their Prophet (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him) that when they ascended to a high place, they would say takbir, and when they descended, they would say tasbih (subhan Allah). From this, we know that it is prescribed for one who boards an airplane and it takes off from the ground to say takbir, and when it begins to descend, he should say tasbih. Yes. And among the benefits of this hadith is optimism (tafawwul), and that a person should have optimism in his mind and thoughts, based on his saying, “Khaybar is ruined,” for this is undoubtedly optimism. The intended meaning of its ruin is not destruction, but rather, “Khaybar is ruined” for whom? For its people. It is not intended that it was destroyed, for it was not destroyed; rather, it still exists. And among the benefits of this hadith is that when Muslims descend upon the territory of a people, that is a sign of their defeat. “Their territory” means what is near them and around them, based on his saying, “Indeed, when we descend upon the territory of a people, the morning of the warned ones is bad.” But who among us, when he descends upon the territory of a people, has a bad morning for the warned ones? It is those who hold fast to the religion of Allah in belief, speech, action, reliance, seeking help, and other matters that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were upon. As for people as they are today, victory is far from them, and reality is a witness to this. For whoever follows what is happening between the Arabs who are fighting the Jews—because they are Arabs, not because they are Muslims—will know that victory is far away and that the Jews are playing with them with false promises and broken covenants. This is something from which you may perhaps realize what I do not realize. But if the Muslims were to apply the Islamic religion, they would be victorious by it, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted: [At-Tawbah 9:33] So the religion is manifest and must rise above everything, but for those who hold fast to it. And among the benefits of this hadith is the emphasis of a matter by repeating it, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated it three times. And among the benefits of this hadith is the clarification of the fear in the hearts of the Jews, and that they are people of fear and terror. And so it is; they are the most humble of people and the most afraid of death and fearful of it, and the most eager for life. Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Baqarah 2:96] meaning, and more eager than the polytheists. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said about them: [Al-Baqarah 2:94-95] If someone were to ask: How do you describe them as humble when they are now speaking from a position of honor and strength? The answer is: From one of two angles, or from both. The first angle is that they are humble except by a mountain from Allah and a rope from people. Their current situation is one of honor by what? By a rope from people. So all the disbelieving states are with them, and therefore they have honor. The second angle is that we say they are honored here because those who oppose them have humbled themselves by their distance from the Shari'ah of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). So this matter is delayed either due to the presence of a cause or the presence of a barrier. Either there is a cause by which they are strengthened, which is what? The rope from people. Or there is a barrier, which is that the Muslims are not currently in the state of honor that they should be in. And look at the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) in Surat al-Hashr: [Al-Hashr 59:14] But the address in His saying “they do not fight you” is for whom? For the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions, or for those who are like them. And among the benefits of this hadith is that the women of disbelievers, when overcome, become captives, because disbelievers are either fighters or non-fighters. So regarding the fighters, the commander or one above him has the choice in four matters: until Allah the Exalted mentioned: [Muhammad 47:4] meaning, either you show them favor if the public interest requires it, or ransom. Ransom may be with money or with a Muslim prisoner. These are two matters. The third matter is killing...
