Benefits of the Hadith: (That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a man over Khaybar, and he brought him Janyb dates . . . ).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Several benefits are derived from this hadith:
The first benefit: The permissibility of appointing one man to collect zakah and settle accounts with partners. The evidence for this is:
the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, appointed a man as an agent in Khaybar أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم استعمل رجلا على خيبر
Muwatta Malik 31:22
. It is well known that the fruits of Khaybar were divided, with half for the Muslims and the other half for the Jews, on the basis of musaqah (sharecropping). However, the condition for the agent is that he must be experienced and trustworthy. As you know, these two conditions are required in every transaction entrusted to a person: that the person be experienced and trustworthy. Allah pointed to this in His Book, saying, Mighty and Majestic, regarding the ifrit from the jinn who said to Sulayman:
I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong أنا آتيك به قبل أن تقوم مِن مقامك وإني عليه لقوي
[An-Naml 27:39]
. This is the experience, and
Trustworthy أمين
this is the trustworthiness.
And one of the daughters of the owner of Madyan said to her father:
O my father, hire him يا أبت استئجره
meaning Musa,
The best of those you hire is the strong and trustworthy إن خير من استئجرت القوي الأمين
. Therefore, whoever is appointed to a job must be experienced and trustworthy.
Among the benefits of this hadith: That a difference in kind due to quality, whether good or bad, does not affect the prohibition of riba. The explanation is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in another narration:
Pure riba عين الربا
. He said to Bilal:
Pure riba عين الربا
. This means this is exactly riba, even though the value is different. Is it different or not?
The student: Different.

The Shaykh : It is different, for the bad does not equal the good in value. And yet, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited the excess between them, between the two types of dates, because they are of the same kind.
Among the benefits of this hadith: That a difference in type also does not affect the prohibition of riba. A difference in type. And I think you know the difference between type and kind?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : All dates are of the same kind, but they are of different types, for example, Sukkari, Shuqra, and Umm al-Hamam.
