The Shaykh : Among the remaining benefits of this hadith: First, it clarifies that the Noble Qur'an is revealed initially and due to specific causes. Knowing the cause of revelation is a complete aid in understanding the meaning. Therefore, a person should know the cause of revelation so that he can use it to help understand the meaning. However, the cause of revelation is sometimes stated explicitly, such as saying, “So-and-so happened, and so-and-so was revealed,” which is clear. Or it is said, “The cause of the revelation of the verse is so-and-so.” Sometimes it is only implied, such as saying, “The verse was revealed regarding so-and-so,” meaning it is possible that this is part of its meaning, and it is possible that it is the cause. Therefore, one should know the history of the verse's revelation and the clarification of its cause.
