The Shaykh : Among the benefits of the hadith, first is the affirmation of the Highness of Allah. From where is this taken?
The student: He descends.
The Shaykh : From the statement:
And in it is the affirmation of the voluntary actions, which are the attributes of action, from His saying:Sunan Abi Dawud 4733Sahih (Al-Albani) Wake up, O servant of Allah.
And in it is also the affirmation of speech for Allah.
The student:
The Shaykh : And in it is the affirmation of generosity for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) Who is it who asks Me? Who is it who seeks My forgiveness?" to encourage us. It is incumbent upon us, and we ask Allah to help us and you, that we should utilize this opportunity, because your life is nothing but what you have spent in the obedience of Allah. The days will pass by you, and when death comes to you, it will be as if you were born at that moment; everything that has passed is nothing. Now, yesterday and the day before and the day before that have passed by us, and it seems like nothing, does it not? No, it is never like nothing; it is like dreams, yes, dreams that have gone. So when the term of life arrives, your state will be like your state now; there is nothing behind you except what you have spent in the obedience of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). This is the life of a person in truth: what he has spent in the obedience of Allah. As for what is other than that, it is a loss for him. So this hadith, from the practical aspect, benefits us in that we should seize this portion of the night, saying to Allah (Mighty and Majestic): "O our Lord, we ask You for Paradise. O our Lord, we seek Your forgiveness for our sins. O our Lord, we ask You for beneficial knowledge. We ask You for righteous deeds," and so on, utilizing this opportunity. And how long before the dawn is this matter?
The student: One hour.
The Shaykh : One hour is sufficient, half an hour is sufficient, yes, whatever is facilitated, yes.
The student: He descends.
The Shaykh : From the statement:
