The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. May Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
Muhammad ibn Bakkar al-Basri narrated to me, Abu 'Aasim narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj. And Muhammad ibn Rafi' - and the wording is his - said: 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, he said: Abu Qazzah informed me that Abu Nadrah informed him, and Hasan informed them, that Abu Sa'id al-Khudri informed him:.
The Shaykh : In the chain of this hadith, it says: Muhammad ibn Rafi' narrated to me, and the wording is his, he said: 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, he said: Abu Qazzah informed me that Abu Nadrah informed him, and Hasan informed them. So Abu Nadrah is a shaykh (teacher) to Abu Qazzah, and a contemporary of his, is that not so? He is a shaykh to him because he said: "Abu Nadrah informed us," and "Hasan informed them." Who did he inform? He informed Abu Qazzah and Abu Nadrah. So he is a shaykh and one of his contemporaries. This is known in the terminology as the narration of contemporaries from one another, even though their shaykh is the same.

When the delegation of Abd al-Qays came to the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), they said: O Prophet of Allah, may Allah make us a ransom for you, what is suitable for us among drinks? He said: Do not drink in the naqir. They said: O Prophet of Allah, may Allah make us a ransom for you, do you know what the naqir is? He said: Yes, it is a trunk that is hollowed out in the middle. And not in the dabbah, and not in the hantamah. And stick to the muwayki.
