The reciter: Hudayb ibn Khalid al-Azdi narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, Anas ibn Malik narrated to us, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal, who said:
I was riding behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and there was nothing between me and him but the back of the saddle. He said: "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal." I said: "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service." Then he rode for a while, then he said: "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal." I said: "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service." Then he rode for a while, then he said: "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal." I said: "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service." He said: "Do you know what is the right of Allah over His servants?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "The right of Allah over His servants is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him." Then he rode for a while, then he said: "O Mu'adh ibn Jabal." I said: "Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service." He said: "Do you know what is the right of the servants over Allah if they do that?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "That He will not punish them."
