The Book of Faith-08a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Zakariyya ibn Abi Zayd and Abu Mu'awiya narrated to us from 'Asim from Abu Usman from Sa'd and Abu Bakrah, each of them saying: My two ears heard it and my heart grasped it, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:
He who claimed for another one his fatherhood besides his own father knowingly that he was not his father-to him Paradise is forbidden.
Sahih Muslim 63b
.

The Shaykh : His statement:
So Paradise is forbidden to him
This type of wording occurs frequently in the hadiths of warning, in order to deter people from what they are warned about. It carries two possible meanings: The first meaning is that this sin may encompass a person until he reaches disbelief, and may Allah protect us from that, and Paradise becomes absolutely forbidden to him.
The second aspect is that we say: Entering Paradise is divided into two categories: absolute entry that is not preceded by punishment, and absolute entry, meaning it is preceded by punishment. So when the word
Paradise is forbidden to him.
comes, does it refer to the first or the second? The first is absolute prohibition, meaning he cannot enter it ever. The second is absolute prohibition [of immediate entry], so when the text says:
Paradise is forbidden to him.
and this action does not take one out of Islam, the intended meaning is the second. What does that mean? It means absolute prohibition [of immediate entry]. So it is not forbidden to him forever, but he is punished according to his deeds, and then in the end he enters Paradise.
Likewise, when
The beater of false tales would never enter heaven.
Sahih Muslim 105b
comes, meaning the talebearer, we say: Entry is of two types: absolute and absolute entry. So his statement:
The tale-bearer shall not enter Paradise.
Sahih Muslim 105a
means what? Absolute entry that is not preceded by punishment, not absolute entry [of the soul], because talebearing does not take one out of Islam, so it does not necessitate that a person is absolutely forbidden from entering Paradise.
