The people of Kalam were granted intelligence but were not granted spiritual insight.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: Shaykh, the time has passed while verifying the verse...

The Shaykh : What good, if Allah wills, very well.
The student: I say that the people of Kalam claim to have intellects and that they are intelligent, and they take the meaning from the old women and from men like them, O Shaykh. And the people of the Sunnah seek the evidence, they seek the truth from the evidence until they reach the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). If the Imams and the Companions sought the evidence until it reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), how... and they claim intellect and they claim?

The Shaykh : O Allah, grant us well-being. You, You are circling around this meaning, O Salim. Listen to the words of the Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on them) regarding them: "These people were granted intelligence but were not granted spiritual insight, and they were granted understanding but were not granted knowledge". This means their knowledge of the Book and the Sunnah is little; they have nothing but these debates and rational judgments.
The student: But the understanding they claim and the intellects they claim, how do they not guide them to... it is Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and His Messenger?

The Shaykh : Complain to Allah. Say, "O Allah, guide me to that in which there is disagreement regarding the truth, by His permission."
The student: O Allah, guide me to that in which there is disagreement regarding the truth. But it should be upon the people of the Sunnah, and this is a defect in them.

The Shaykh : Correct. Has the time ended? Very well, but the brother Salim made a claim, meaning there is no harm in it.
It says: "And among the most important conditions is that one be knowledgeable about the contrary opinion that necessitated him being a disbeliever or an open sinner".
