Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Then He the Exalted said [Saba 34:6] to the end of it. In this verse, the virtue of knowledge: where is it taken from?
The student : ......
The Shaykh : Yes, but the virtue of knowledge. But what is the aspect here that indicates the virtue of knowledge?
The student: ...
The Shaykh : No.
The student: That they see that they are people of knowledge, and that Allah the Exalted has given them knowledge.
The Shaykh : It is true that the scholar knows the realities as they are, and he sees that what was revealed to the Messenger is the truth. This is undoubtedly one of the virtues of knowledge, the opposite of one who hesitates whether it is the truth or denies that it is the truth, may Allah protect us from that. Those whom Allah has blessed with knowledge see that it is the truth.
And among the benefits of the noble verse: the indication that it is not befitting for a person to be proud of his knowledge. Where is it taken from? Brother
The student : ......
The Shaykh :[Saba 34:6] .
The student : ......
The Shaykh : No.
The student: ...
The Shaykh : No.
The student: That this knowledge was revealed from Allah the Exalted.
The Shaykh : No.
The student:[Al-An'am 6:114].
The Shaykh : No, my brothers, there is evidence in it that it is not befitting for a person to be proud of his knowledge, due to His saying meaning they did not attain it by themselves, but Allah the Exalted bestowed it upon them. Yes, it is clear. Do not say, "This is from me." Similarly, some people become proud when they acquire wealth, and it is Allah the Mighty and Majestic who gave it to them. And what did Allah the Mighty and Majestic do to the one who said, "I was only given it because of knowledge I have"? He caused the earth to swallow him. And now there is evidence in it that it is not befitting for a person to be proud of himself and say, "I acquired this knowledge through my understanding, my diligence, and my perseverance."
And among the benefits of the noble verse: that it is befitting for a person to turn to Allah the Exalted in acquiring knowledge. Where do we take this from?
The student:.
The Shaykh : From His saying So if we are given knowledge, let us ask from whom we are given this knowledge, is that not so? Good.
And among the benefits of the noble verse: that the Qur'an is the speech of Allah[Al-Ma'idah 5:64] How was that evidence that it is the speech of Allah? Because not everything that is revealed is speech; Allah may mention the removal of a thing, and it is not speech?
The student: Because what is revealed from Allah is either subsisting in itself or subsisting in another. So what subsists in itself is created... As for the Qur'an, it subsists in another.
The Shaykh : Yes, because it is speech, so it cannot be except from a speaker. Thus, the speech of Allah is not created. It is clear, my brothers. And there are things that Allah reveals and says, "We revealed them, and they are created"[Al-An'am:99] [Al-Mu'minun:18] [Az-Zumar:6] [Al-Hadid:25] And all these things are created, are they not? Because they are entities subsisting in themselves, unlike speech, for speech cannot be except with a speaker. So when Allah says He revealed the Book to him, and it is speech, this speech becomes part of the speech of Allah.
And among the benefits of the noble verse: the virtue of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Where is it taken from? From the attribution of Lordship to Him. And this Lordship is specific, as we have also passed through in the rules of interpretation. So at that time, we say that in this is the virtue of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
And among its benefits: the care of Allah for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), due to His saying And in it is the clarification of the favor of Allah upon him, where He revealed to him the truth.
And among the benefits of the noble verse also: that this Qur'an is the truth in its reports and in its rulings. The truth in the reports is veracity, and in the rulings it is justice. And Allah has combined that in His saying[Al-An'am:115].
And among the benefits of the noble verse: that the Qur'an is a guiding light.
And those who have been given knowledge see that what is revealed to you from your Lord is the truth
وَيَرَى الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ هُوَ الْحَقَّThe student : ......
