Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"Chapter Two: The Message of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)" What did this great message contain? There is no doubt that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) came to reform creation, so his message must contain everything that reforms creation in their religion and their worldly affairs. It contains two things: beneficial knowledge and righteous action. The evidence is the saying of Allah the Exalted
It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth
[At-Tawbah 9:33]
If I told you, "I sent so-and-so to you with a letter," what is the thing sent? The letter. Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent with guidance and the religion of truth, so the thing sent is guidance and the religion of truth. Guidance comes from the root of guidance, which is the opposite of misguidance, so it is beneficial knowledge. How many great sciences are there in the Message of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?
It is He who has sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom
[Al-Jumu'ah 62:2]
Second, righteous action, which is the religion of truth, because "religion" means action, and this is from the category of adding the described to the attribute. So "the religion of truth" means the religion that is the truth, just as one says "the university mosque," and what does that mean? It means the mosque that gathers [people], so it is from the category of adding the attribute to the described, or the described to the attribute? Here? The described to the attribute. So "the religion of truth" means the action that is the truth. Thus, the Message of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) contained these two matters: beneficial knowledge and righteous action, because they are reports, stories, and news about future matters, all of which are beneficial knowledge. And also actions, which the accountable person performs by doing or leaving, and they are righteous actions. For this reason, the author said: "So guidance is beneficial knowledge, and the religion of truth is righteous action", and righteous action must include two things: sincerity for Allah and following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The evidence is the saying of Allah the Exalted
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth
[Al-Bayyinah 98:5]
"And sincere to Him in religion, inclining [to Him]." This is the sincerity, and "inclining" is the following. And Allah the Exalted said
So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone." فمن كان يرجو لقاء ربه فليعمل عملا صالحا ولا يشرك بعبادة ربه أحدا
[Al-Kahf 18:110]
And he was asked, al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyad (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked, "What is righteous action?" He said: "What is pure and correct, pure and correct", and "pure" means sincere for Allah, and "correct"?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : No, in accordance with the Sunnah. And indicating this is also the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)
The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated
Sahih al-Bukhari 1
to the end of it, and his saying
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.
Sahih Muslim 1718b
This is regarding the following. Good.
And his saying "following his Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)" includes the sunnahs and the obligatory duties, but the sunnahs are in the way of perfection and the obligatory duties are in the way of compulsion.
