Is it valid to deny the ascription of a specific mode to Allah the Exalted by citing His saying, “There is nothing like unto Him,” the verse?

The questioner : ... ؟

The Shaykh : No, because one may ascribe a specific mode without the condition of likening Allah to creation. If someone says, “The mode of Allah’s Hand is like my hand,” for example, we say that he is both ascribing a specific mode and likening Allah to creation. Yes, but if he ascribes a specific mode in the sense that he imagines one of the attributes, we say this

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : without likening. He did not say, “Allah’s Hand is like such and such.” He said, “The attribute of Allah’s Hand is such and such,” and he ascribed a specific mode from himself. This is ascribing a specific mode, not likening Allah to creation. Yes.
