Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said: "And as for deviation in His verses, it occurs in the legislative verses, which are the rulings and reports brought by the messengers, and it occurs in the cosmic verses, which are what Allah has created and creates in the heavens and the earth". The verses of Allah the Exalted are of two types: cosmic and legislative. The cosmic ones are these creations in the heavens and the earth, and the legislative ones are the rulings and reports brought by the messengers. So deviation in the first category, the reports and rulings
"As for deviation in the legislative verses, it is distorting them, or denying their reports, or disobeying their rulings". Three matters: distorting the cosmic verses occurs by one of three matters
The student: ...

The Shaykh : legislative, yes. In the legislative verses, it occurs by one of three matters: the first is distortion. Is it verbal or semantic?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, both. Because distorting them is deviating from what is required in them, or denying their reports, by saying this is not correct, or doubting them, or disobeying their rulings. So disobedience is deviation, because the person has thereby departed from what he is required to be upon, which is obedience to Allah Mighty and Majestic.
"And as for deviation in the cosmic verses, it is attributing them to other than Allah, or believing in a partner or helper for Him in them". Attributing them to other than Allah, what does that mean? It is that he says the one who created the heavens and the earth is not Allah, the one who created good is not by Allah, the one who created evil is not by Allah. We say, is this a deviator or not? A deviator. Likewise, if he attributes a partner to Allah in them, and says the one who created the heavens is Allah and Jibril, we say this is also deviation. Or a helper, by saying yes, the one who created... the one who created these creations is Allah, but He has someone who helps Him.
