The Shaykh :"And among the proofs of the Sunnah is what al-Khallal narrated in his book al-Sunnah with a sound chain of narration meeting the conditions of al-Bukhari, from Qatadah ibn al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: When Allah finished His creation, He rose above His Throne. سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول : لما فرغ الله من خلقه استوى على عرشه
"
When Allah finished His creation, this means He completed it; it does not mean that something occupied Allah the Exalted from something else. However, when He finished the creation, the completion here is with respect to the created, not the Creator, for Allah Mighty and Majestic has always been and continues to be the Doer of deeds, and nothing occupies Him from anything. With this, the objection raised by some people regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted
We will attend to you, O prominent beings. سنفرغ لكم أيها الثقلان
[Ar-Rahman 55:31]
is resolved. They said that the apparent meaning of this verse implies that Allah was previously occupied away from the reckoning of the two groups. But we say this is not correct; rather, the meaning is that with respect to the reckoning of these people, yes, the reckoning has become a new occurrence, and this is in the context of the threat in His saying
We will attend to you, O prominent beings. سنفرغ لكم أيها الثقلان
[Ar-Rahman 55:31]
. He said: And it was narrated, "And Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani said: It is mentioned in every book that Allah revealed to every prophet". And on this basis, the religions are united in the rising of Allah above His Throne.
