The Shaykh : Negligence takes hold of us, and we become heedless of this elevated state.
Now, he says: "Rather, the same person finds that he is stronger in certainty in some times and states than in others.
And we also say: How can a person of sound mind judge that two men are equal in faith, when one is: persistent in the obedience of Allah the Exalted: its obligatory and voluntary acts, keeping away from the prohibitions of Allah, and if a sin comes from him, he hastens to abandon it and repent from it, while the other neglects what Allah has made obligatory upon him and is immersed in what Allah has forbidden him, except that he has not committed what necessitates disbelief? How can this one and that one be equal?".
Is this possible? Look at the question: A man is persistent in the obedience of Allah; whenever obedience is mentioned, he hastens to it, keeping away from the disobedience of Allah, so he flees from sin as he would flee from a lion. And another man is the opposite; he is lax in the obligatory duties and commits forbidden acts, except that he has not done what necessitates disbelief. These two men are, according to the Murji'ah, on the same level.
We say: Can a person of sound mind say that they are on the same level? It is not possible. Everyone knows that the one who preserves the Shari'ah by doing what is commanded and leaving what is prohibited cannot be equated with the one who is negligent, careless, and an open sinner.
