The reader: "And also, it was narrated from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
When the Messenger of Allah follows a corpse, he would not sit until (the deceased was) placed in the Lahd. A rabbi came upon him and said: 'This is what we do, O Muhammad'" He said: "So the Messenger of Allah sat, and he said: 'Differ from them.'" كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا اتبع جنازة لم يقعد حتى توضع في اللحد ، فعرض له حبر فقال : هكذا نصنع يا محمد . قال : فجلس رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وقال : خالفوهم
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1020Da'if (Darussalam)
. It was narrated by Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, and al-Tirmidhi, who said: "
Bishr ibn Rafi' is not strong in hadith ".
I said: The scholars have differed regarding standing for a funeral when it passes by, and standing with it when it is escorted. The hadiths commanding this are numerous and widespread. And whoever believes in their abrogation, or the abrogation of standing for those passing by, his evidence is the hadith of Ali and this hadith of 'Ubadah.
And even if the opinion regarding both is possible, because the one escorting stands for it until it is placed down from the shoulders of the men, not in the grave, then this hadith is either to be acted upon by reconciling it with others, or as abrogating others. And the difference has been explained by the principle of differing from them "
.

The Shaykh : By the principle of differing from them, and the difference has been explained by the principle of differing from them.
The reader: Correction, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Ah?
The reader: Correction?

The Shaykh : Correction, yes.
The reader: "And the difference has been explained by the principle of differing from them. And whoever does not hold this view weakens it, and that does not invalidate citing it as evidence and relying on it regarding the type of difference.
And al-Bukhari narrated from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim
That al-Qasim used to walk in front of the funeral and did not stand for it. And he reported from A'isha that she said: 'The people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance used to stand for it, saying when they saw it: I was among your people as long as I was not two.' أن القاسم كان يمشي بين يدي الجنازة ، ولا يقوم لها ويخبر عن عائشة قالت : كان أهل الجاهلية يقومون لها ، يقولون إذا رأوها : كنت في أهلك ما كنت مرتين
So those who disliked standing used as evidence that it was an action of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance "
.

The Shaykh : Yes, disliked.
The student: I have "left off"

The Shaykh : Ways? Ways?
The student: Left off.

The Shaykh : Left off.
The reader: I have a copy, meaning, for the funeral. So those who disliked standing for the funeral.

The Shaykh : But you have "disliked."
The reader: Disliked.

The Shaykh : What we have is better.
The reader: "So those who disliked standing used as evidence that it was an action of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. And the purpose here is not to discuss this specific issue itself".
