The Shaykh : And the summary of this hadith and its wording is: First: that a person must not urinate in standing water that does not flow, absolutely. Yes, except that we have excluded large rivers and wadis and the like, for this is permissible by consensus. We have also excluded from standing water, what? The sea, seas, or lakes; a large amount of water in which urination has no effect. The scholars said there is nothing wrong with this, because the address of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is directed only to the customary thing, and there were no seas or rivers in the city.
Now, that is one point. Second: that one must not urinate in it and bathe from it, because that is considered disgusting and ugly by custom and by fitrah, due to his saying: "None of you should urinate and then bathe."
Third: that there is no difference between bathing in it and bathing from it, because the wording indicates that. And even if we assume that the wording "from it" is not present, we say that if bathing in it is prohibited, then bathing from it is the same in meaning, and if bathing from it is prohibited, then bathing in it is the same in meaning.
