Explanation of the Book of Purification-19

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then the author said: "And from Salman (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
He (meaning God’s messenger) forbade us to face the qibla when easing ourselves or passing water, or to wipe ourselves with the right hand, or to wipe ourselves with less than three stones, or to wipe ourselves with dung or bone.
Mishkat al-Masabih 336
Muslim narrated it"
:
He said: Salman al-Farisi said this in response to a man from the polytheists who said: "Your Prophet has taught you even how to relieve yourself": meaning: even the etiquettes of relieving oneself. So he said to him:
Yes, He taught us even this: He forbade us from such and such
.
The scholars said: The prohibition is a demand to refrain in a manner of authority, meaning: the one who prohibits feels that he has authority and the right to speak to the one to whom the prohibition is directed.
And his saying:
facing the Qiblah when defecating or urinating
Sunan an-Nasa'i 41Sahih (Darussalam)
: means that a person should sit on his urine or feces with the qiblah in front of him, and that is to honor the qiblah, because the qiblah is a place of honor, and the place toward which the servants turn to Allah the Exalted in the most noble of acts of worship after the two testimonies, so it must be honored.
And his saying:
or cleansing with right hand
Sahih Muslim 262a
or wipe himself with his right hand in privy
Sahih Muslim 267a
.
And istinja' is the removal of najw, which is feces.
And his saying:
or with less than three pebbles
Sahih Muslim 262a
: means that we should settle for two stones or one stone.
And his saying:
Or to clean ourselves
indicates that this is in the case where the excretion is wet, but if the excretion is dry—sometimes the excretion is dry and the place does not get contaminated at all—then it does not fall under the hadith, because istinja' is not obligatory from it in this case, but if the excretion is moist, one should not clean oneself with less than three stones, even if they clean it thoroughly.
or to clean ourselves with dung or a bone
Bulugh al-Maram 97
:
Dung
Dung.
And
Bone العظم
is well known.
And that is because dung is the food of the beasts of the jinn, they eat it just as our beasts eat fodder.
As for the bone, it is because it is the food of our brothers from the jinn,
Every bone on which the name of Allah is recited is your provision. The time it will fall in your hand it would be covered with flesh
Sahih Muslim 450a
: Glory be to Allah! Meaning this bone that appears, the jinn find the meat on it to be the most abundant, even though we do not see this, because the jinn and their conditions are among the matters of the unseen.
