Explanation of the Book of Prayer-02

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And from 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the 'Isha' prayer one night until most of the night had passed أعتم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ذات ليلة بالعشاء حتى ذهب عامة الليل
Delayed أعتم
Meaning: The darkness set in, and the darkness is the deepening of the night's darkness. The shepherds used to delay milking their camels until the earth became dark, so "delayed" here means postponed.
Until most of the night had passed. حتى ذهب عامة الليل
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2:47
It is not possible to interpret "most" here as "the majority," because if we interpreted it as "the majority," it would imply that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed it after the middle of the night, which is impossible. Therefore, "most" means "much."
Until most of the night had passed, then he came out and prayed and said: "It is indeed its time, were it not that I would cause hardship upon my Ummah" حتى ذهب عامة الليل، ثم خرج فصلى وقال : إنه لوقتها لولا أن أشق على أمتي
Narrated by Muslim, and he said:
Indeed, he إنه
Meaning: This is the time in which he prayed.
It is its time لوقتها
Meaning: It is the preferred time.
were it not that this would be too difficult for my Ummah لولا أن أشق على أمتي
Sunan an-Nasa'i 532Sahih (Darussalam)
