Benefits of the Hadith: (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once delayed the Isha prayer one night until most of the night had passed...)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this hadith, there is evidence for the permissibility of the imam delaying the prayer from its customary time, due to the use of the word:
One night
The word "dhat" here is, in terms of meaning, an extra word, and it is used in the sense of "owner" or "possessor," as in the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
And a man whom a woman called
What?
Possessing status and beauty
and it is often used as a superfluous word, as in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
amend that which is between you
[Al-Anfal 8:1]
meaning: reconcile between them, and this hadith is similar to that.
One night
In the terminology of the later scholars, it is used to mean the self, so they say "the essence and the attribute," meaning the self. However, it is not part of the authentic language of the Arabs, as mentioned by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him). Nevertheless, people use it frequently to mean the self, so you find them saying "Zayd came in his own person" instead of saying "Zayd came himself." In this, there is evidence of the Companions' respect for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as none of them stepped forward to lead the people in prayer because he delayed until a large part of the night had passed. In this hadith, there are benefits: that the best practice for the 'Isha' prayer is to delay it, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, that is its time إنه لوقتها
It also contains evidence that hardship is taken into account, meaning that hardship is considered, and that with hardship, matters are made easy. For this reason, it became one of the principles among the scholars"Hardship brings ease"Among them is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has the authority to legislate, as indicated by his saying:
This is the proper time for it; were it not that I would impose a burden on my people
Sahih Muslim 638c
But know that the legislation of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is from the Shari'ah of Allah if Allah approved it for him. But if he exercised independent legal reasoning and Allah did not approve it, the matter is clear, such as his permission (peace and blessings be upon him) to those of the hypocrites who sought his permission before the matter became clear. Allah the Exalted said regarding them:
May Allah pardon you عفا الله عنك
[At-Tawbah 9:43]
What?
why did you give them permission [to remain behind]? [You should not have] until it was evident to you who were truthful and you knew [who were] the liars.
[At-Tawbah 9:43]
And among the benefits of this hadith is the compassion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) for his Ummah, and that he loves for them the easier and simpler path. For this reason, when he (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) sent delegations to call people to Allah, he said to them:
Make things easy and do not make them difficult, and give glad tidings and do not drive people away. For you have been sent as those who make things easy, not as those who make them difficult.
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was never given a choice between two things but that he chose the easier of the two as long as it was not a wrong action
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:16
The term "ummah" here refers to the ummah of response, and this should be understood in conjunction with the words "the ummah intended here is the ummah of response." This is because the ummah of invitation does not pray until they are shown leniency, or until leniency is not shown. However, the intended meaning is the ummah of response. So, if a questioner were to ask: "Which prayer is it prescribed to delay in every case?" It is 'Isha. It is not prescribed to delay any of the other prayers except for a reason.
