Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. If the imam prolongs the prostration or bowing until the congregation is exhausted, is it permissible to alert him?

The Shaykh : The imam—no, it is not permissible for him to prolong the prayer for the people. The scholars said that the maximum amount of tasbih for the imam is ten or twelve times: "Subhan Rabb al-‘Azim" (Glory be to my Lord, the Magnificent) ten times, and "Subhan Rabi al-A‘la" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High) ten times.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, yes.

The questioner : If the imam prolongs it beyond that.

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : If the imam prolongs it beyond ten recitations of tasbih.

The Shaykh : He guides, he guides. It is said that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry when Mu‘adh prolonged the recitation of the testimony.
