Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : She asks in her letter: Is it permissible to install gold teeth? If a person dies, are the gold teeth in his mouth to be removed or not?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds, and upon his family and all his Companions. As for what follows, it is not permissible for men to install gold teeth except out of necessity.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : For example, if a tooth falls out and he needs to have it secured with some gold, or if it changes due to breaking or the like and he needs to have it covered with gold, this is with regard to men. As for women, if they are accustomed to adorning themselves by covering some of their teeth with gold, then there is nothing wrong with it, because it is permissible for a woman to adorn herself with gold according to what is customary. So if it is the custom of women, for example, to adorn their teeth with gold, then there is no blame in that.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : In both cases, the case of necessity for a man and the case of adornment for a woman, if the deceased dies, then this gold is to be removed from him, because its remaining in him is a waste of wealth, and the wealth has passed to the heirs upon the death of the deceased. However, if there is a fear of mutilation, meaning that if we were to remove it, the other teeth would fall out, then it remains with the deceased. If it decays while with the deceased, it is to be extracted from him. And if the heirs permit it to remain, there is no blame in that, because it is their wealth, and if they waive their right to it, there is no blame on them in that.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed.
