Then he said:
Say, "I only advise you of one قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَعِظُكُمْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ
[Saba 34:46]
This is the beginning of today’s lesson.
Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allah, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought."
[Saba 34:46]
… We are now explaining
Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allah, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought."
[Saba 34:46]
the meaning of “stand.” We mentioned yesterday that the meaning of “stand” is standing as opposed to sitting? No, the meaning is steadfastness in this matter. So stand firm.
and then reflect ثم تتفكروا
Reflect on the matter of this Messenger who came to you from Allah and said that he is the Messenger of Allah.
There is not in your companion any madness
[Saba 34:46]
Is this statement from the speech of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to refute their claim, or are they reflecting on it? That is, as the commentator said: “So know that there is no madness in your companion”. The author proceeded on the basis that
There is not in your companion any madness
[Saba 34:46]
is the object of what reflection requires.
