Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: “And had it not been for the favor of my Lord upon me in this world through faith, I would have been among those brought [to you] in the Fire.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The author said: “And had it not been for the favor of my Lord upon me in this world through faith, I would have been among those brought [to you] in the Fire”. This lam occurs in the response to lawla, because “I would have been” is the response to lawla: “I would have been among those brought [to you] in the Fire.” If you wish, you may say “I would have been among those brought in the punishment,” to make it more severe, for punishment is broader and more severe than the punishment of the Fire, even though one who is in the Fire is being punished, may Allah protect us from that.
