Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “So who is more unjust than one who lies about Allah and denies the truth when it comes to him? Is there not in Hell a dwelling place for the disbelievers?”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Allah the Exalted said:
So who is more unjust than one who lies about Allah and denies the truth when it has come to him
[Az-Zumar 39:32]
Who مَنْ
This is an interrogative particle, and His saying:
when it comes to him إذ جاءه
When إذ
is a temporal particle meaning "when." The interrogative in His saying:
Is it not أليس أَلَيْسَ
is for affirmation. Allah the Exalted says:
So who is more unjust than one who lies about Allah
[Az-Zumar 39:32]
And His saying:
[Az-Zumar 39:32]
means he fabricated lies about Him; he fabricated lies about Him, either by attributing a partner to Him, or by saying He forbade something He did not forbid, or He permitted something He did not permit, or He made something obligatory He did not make obligatory, or He denied one of His attributes, or He affirmed for Him what He did not affirm for Himself, or other things involving lying about Allah. So no one is more unjust than one who lies about Allah. Lying about Allah is not like lying about humans, and lying about the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is not like lying about other humans. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Ascribing false things to me is not like ascribing false things to anyone else
Sahih al-Bukhari 1291
and
He who lies about me deliberately will certainly come to his abode in Hell.
Sunan Abi Dawud 3651Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
And His saying:
and denies the truth when it has come to him
[Az-Zumar 39:32]
combines the two matters:
denies the truth كذب بالصدق
meaning he attributed truth to falsehood and said this is a lie. Among this is the denial of the Quraysh of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), where they said he was a lying sorcerer.
Allah the Exalted said:
Is there not in Hell a [sufficient] residence for the disbelievers?
[Al-'Ankabut 29:68]
This interrogative is for affirmation. The general rule is that when the interrogative hamzah enters a phrase indicating negation, it is generally for affirmation, and its answer in the affirmative is "bala" (yes). Its answer in the affirmative is "bala," like
Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast?
[Ash-Sharh 94:1]
The interrogative here is for affirmation, and its meaning is "We have expanded for you your chest."
Has there not come to you the news of those who disbelieved before
[At-Taghabun 64:5]
The meaning is "it has come to you." There are many examples of this in the Qur'an.
And His saying:
Is there not in Hell a [sufficient] residence for the disbelievers?
[Al-'Ankabut 29:68]
is explicit in a place where omission would be expected. The context required saying "Is there not in Hell a dwelling place for him?" Explicitness in a place where omission is expected has benefits we mentioned to you previously. Who can recall them? Explicitness in a place where omission is expected.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: ...

The Shaykh : This is one benefit: generality, meaning a dwelling place for them and for others among the disbelievers.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : No, it may not be in it...
The student: ...

The Shaykh : No, this is in the context of turning attention, and perhaps this is... alertness.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, affirming the description of these people as disbelievers, meaning affirming that these disbelievers are the third?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : No.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : How quickly you forget. The third is the indication of the cause. It indicates the cause. If he had said "There is not in Hell a dwelling place for him," we would not benefit from knowing what the cause is. That his dwelling place is Hell. But when he said:
Is there not in Hell a [sufficient] residence for the disbelievers?
[Al-'Ankabut 29:68]
we knew that the cause is their disbelief. So it clarifies the cause. Thus, explicitness in a place where omission is expected has three benefits. The first benefit? Argumentation. What is it?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Glory be to Allah the Great. The sleep of the awake is strange.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : The Nile flows, and even if you were...
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: ...

The Shaykh : What?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: ...

The Shaykh : This is one. The second?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: ...

The Shaykh : The third is the indication of the cause. This is among the benefits of explicitness in a place where omission is expected. Now,
Is there not in Hell a [sufficient] residence for the disbelievers?
[Al-'Ankabut 29:68]
It is said that Hell is one of the inflected names, and its origin in the Persian language is Jahnam. It is also said that it is an Arabic name derived from al-jahamah, meaning darkness and fire... the depths. May Allah protect me and you from it. It is black and dark. So Allah knows best, whether this or that. The important thing is that it is used in the language of the Arabs for the great, black fire.
