The Shaykh :
There has come to you from Allah a light قد جاءكم من الله نور
[Al-Ma'idah 5:15]
What is meant by the light?
The student: Mercy,

The Shaykh : Mercy from what? The Qur'an,

The Shaykh : The Qur'an, good. And a book? Light and a book? The meaning of the book is undoubtedly the Qur'an, but describing the book as light, and it is the same thing? Meaning, did you attribute the thing to itself? Light and a book, and the original rule for conjunction is difference?

The Shaykh : Yes, Salim?

The Shaykh : The light is what the Messenger brought from the Shari'ah, as Allah the Exalted said:
and We have sent down to you a clear light. وأنزلنا إليكم نورا مبين
[An-Nisa 4:174]
And it was said that it is the Qur'an, as you mentioned. On this basis, the conjunction of the book to it is from the category of conjoining a thing to its attribute, for example,
(2) Who created and proportioned (3) And who destined and [then] guided (4) And who brings out the pasture الذي خلق فسوى والذي قدر فهدى والذي أخرج المرعى
[Al-A'la 87:2-4]
and it is one.

The Shaykh : His saying:
those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace من اتبع رضوانه سبل السلام
[Al-Ma'idah 5:16]
What is the grammatical analysis of
those who pursue His pleasure من اتبع رضوانه
[Al-Ma'idah 5:16]
?

The Shaykh : Here he said:
The paths of peace سبل السلام
and it is known that the path of Allah is one?
The student: The meaning is the laws of Islam,

The Shaykh : Yes, because the path, which is Islam, is what we said regarding his saying:
Follow His pleasure اتبع رضوانه
.

The Shaykh : What is meant by guidance here is guidance of success or guidance of indication?
The student: Both,

The Shaykh : Wrong. Since you said both, it is wrong. It is an error. I asked what is meant by guidance, and you said the meaning is both. Guidance is feminine, this is an error.
The student: Both of them,

The Shaykh : Yes, the meaning is both of them. The meaning is guidance of success and guidance of indication.
