Continuation of the benefits derived from the previous verse.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Allah the Exalted said:
and brings them out from darknesses into the light, by His permission, and guides them to a straight path.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:16]
. Among the benefits of this noble verse is the refutation of the Qadariyyah, who say that Allah has no connection to the actions of the servant. The verse is explicit:
He brings them out from darknesses into the light
[Al-Baqarah 2:257]
. And among its benefits is that sins are darknesses, and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) are the greatest of them in injustice. Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice." إن الشرك لظلم عظيم
[Luqman 31:13]
. And fabricating lies against Allah is among the greatest of them in injustice:
And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allah a lie
[Al-An'am 6:21]
. And preventing the mosques in which the name of Allah is mentioned is the greatest injustice:
And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques
[Al-Baqarah 2:114]
. The point is that all sins are among the darknesses. Ignorance is also injustice, because it blinds a person to the path, and he does not know where to go, where to return, or how to act. Likewise, among the injustices is the oppression of people by encroaching upon them, their wealth, their bodies, or their honor. And among the benefits of this noble verse is that the Shari'ah is light, and it is indeed light, without doubt. However, one does not perceive this except one to whom Allah the Exalted has granted complete faith and certainty. As faith becomes more complete, the person increases in light, and the light of the Shari'ah becomes clear to him. We ask Allah to make that clear for us and for you. And among the benefits of the noble verse is the affirmation of the permission (idhn) of Allah Mighty and Majestic. I do not mean the permission that is heard, for that is a matter we do not know. But I mean the permission that is the will, and it is of two types: legal permission and cosmic permission. Legal permission is what Allah Mighty and Majestic has legislated. Everything that Allah has legislated, He has permitted legally, but it is not necessary that what Allah has legally permitted actually occur. Cosmic permission is what Allah Mighty and Majestic has willed, and this permission must occur, because it is the will of Allah Glorified and Exalted. So here,
By His permission
, is it legal permission or cosmic permission? It is cosmic, because taking them out of darknesses into light relates to lordship, to divine decree. And among the benefits of the noble verse is that whenever a person holds fast to the Shari'ah of Allah, Allah the Exalted guides him, as He said:
and He guides them to a straight path
. This has many witnesses in the Qur'an that sins are a cause of deviation, and obedience is a cause of guidance and rightness. This has many examples in the Qur'an, and there is no need to enumerate them, because they pass by us frequently.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that paths are of two types: the straight and the crooked. The path of Allah the Exalted is straight, and any other path is crooked, containing nothing, and not leading to a result, because it is crooked.
