The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: >

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not."
[Surat al-Naml:18].
It contains evidence that one of the forms of eloquence is conciseness through omission, because his saying:
Until when they came upon
[Surat al-Naml:18] is something omitted. What is the intended meaning?
The student: .....

The Shaykh : They marched until when they came upon the valley of the ants, because "until" indicates a limit, so there must be something mentioned before it.
And it contains evidence for attributing a thing to its inhabitant, attributing a place to its inhabitant, due to his saying:
the valley of the ants وَادِ النَّمْلِ
[Surat al-Naml:18] just as it is said now regarding the districts in the districts of the city: this is the district of the sons of so-and-so, yes. As it is known from ancient times that districts are attributed to their inhabitants. Do we say: is there evidence in this that if ants settle on a land, they own it, such that it is not permissible to cultivate it or benefit from it, or is it not?
The student: Meaning .... The apparent indication is that there is evidence.

The Shaykh : There is evidence.
The student: The apparent indication.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: The apparent indication ....

The Shaykh : This is the least we know, okay. Now two people disagreed, one says: No, and the other says: Yes. So what do you consider the stronger position?
The student: ....

The Shaykh : No?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Okay. The valley of the ants, the house of so-and-so, do you have the right to come to the house of so-and-so and live in it? ... The valley of the ants.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, yes. We say: Correct, if we looked at the absolute wording, the valley of the ants would be theirs, for the ants, but Allah the Exalted says:
It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth
[Surat al-Baqarah:29] If the ants were to be eaten, would we eat them? So how would we not eat their dwellings? The children of Adam are more entitled to the earth than others, so if, for example, a person needs to cultivate this land and there are ants in it, there is no harm in him cultivating it, even if it results in the death of the ants, yes. Because this death is not intended, and what is not intended but comes about as a necessity to obtain something permissible, it does not harm. And this rule is known in the Shari'ah: that a thing that comes about as a necessity to perform a permissible act and is not intended, there is no harm in it. So look, for example, at killing women and children in war, is it permissible or not?
The student: It is not permissible.

The Shaykh : It is not permissible, but if we do not reach the killing of the fighters except by shooting with catapults and general cannons, is it permissible or not?
The student: It is permissible.

The Shaykh : Even if it results in the killing of women and children, even if it results, because this is not intended. Likewise, cutting down the date palms of the enemy, is it permissible or not?
The student: No, it is not permissible.

The Shaykh : But if we do not reach it except by cutting down their date palms, it is permissible, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did with the Banu Nadir.
And the conclusion is that we say: if killing the ants results in cultivating a land, there is no harm in it, because it was not intended, but it came about as a necessity to obtain a matter permissible for us. Yes.
The student: ....?

The Shaykh : Yes, yes. Killing it is permissible, every harmful thing, even the children of Adam, if one harms you and attacks you and it cannot be repelled except by killing, you kill him, and he is the most sacred of animals in sanctity.
And in this verse is evidence that insects have speech, due to his saying:
an ant said قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ
[Surat al-Naml:18].
And it contains evidence that her speech is also heard, heard by her kind, because if they did not hear it, there would be no benefit in it, so they hear her speech, and Allah Blessed and Exalted may make it heard by whom He wills. Okay.
And it contains evidence by which the common people argued that everything speaks from before. This is not correct, but Allah the Exalted may make the creation hear the speech of some animals, either as a sign, or a miracle, or something similar. Yes.
The student: ...?

The Shaykh : Yes, yes, everything speaks, ..... speaks, yes. And the apparent indication is that ..... possible ... the date storage, yes.
The student: .....

The Shaykh : I ..... that you do not discuss.. you do not ask .... the benefits are better, or else at the thing after .... because this first prevents .... the mind, and also confuses the listeners. Okay.
And in it is a refutation of the author's statement in his saying: that the ant is the queen of the ants, due to his saying:
an ant نَمْلَةٌ
[Surat al-Naml:18] it is indefinite, yes. And it is not strange that an ant from among the ants is the one who does this.
And in it is evidence.. in this verse is evidence for the eloquence of this ant and her advice and her intelligence, yes. Because the speech she said includes all of this, so from her eloquence she used in every place what suits it:
O ants
[Surat al-Naml:18] she used the "ya" of distant address, because the ants are not all close to her, some are far and some are close.
And from the perfection of her advice: her guiding them to the hiding places and shelters in her saying:
Enter your dwellings
[Surat al-Naml:18].
And from the perfection of her intelligence: that she used the disturbing, agitating expressions in his saying:
that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers
[Surat al-Naml:18] yes.
And in it also is of her justice that she said to them:
while they did not perceive.
[Surat al-Naml:18] so this speech includes many types of eloquence, clarity, advice, warning, excusing, and other things that passed in the explanation. Okay. Now the benefits that I have are finished, do you have benefits you have? Yes.
The student: . The greatness of the kingdom of Solomon.

The Shaykh : Huh?
The student: The greatness of the kingdom of Solomon

The Shaykh : Yes, yes. In this also: the greatness of the kingdom of Solomon and his soldiers, and that the ant knew that and warned against it. Yes.
The student: Is there in it ... occurred .....

The Shaykh : Yes. ..... and the real ant, its houses are deep in the ground, and it is also of the habit of the ant that it does not build houses except in a high place, and usually the soldiers mean ... high, as long as they find the flat land they do not go .....
The student: Hard, it digs ...

The Shaykh : Yes?
The student: ..... meaning ..... from .....

The Shaykh : No, it does not dig the tiles
The student: .....

The Shaykh : Yes, ..... as for .....
