So We saved him
That is, Noah.
"From this great flood, and the companions of the ship
and the companions of companions

and what is the thing attached to it? It is the pronoun in His saying: We saved him
meaning, and We also saved the companions of the ship, meaning its people, namely those who were with him in it, and they were the believers, the people of Noah, all of them except his disbelieving son, and the believers from among his people, and likewise the animals. of each [creature] two mates
[Hud: 40] Everything on the face of the earth that lives among the animals was carried in this ship, meaning with them, everything on the earth. These companions of the ship were saved. and We made it a sign for the worlds.
[Al-'Ankabut: 15] We made it a lesson for all people. We made it—the pronoun in We made it
means the story, or We made it, meaning the ship. He supports that it is the ship, that it refers to the nearest mentioned, and he supports the generality that the lesson is not only in the ship, but in the ship and in the story, because he remained for this long period and only a few believed with him, and this great drowning occurred, which has no parallel in what we know. So it is a sign for all people. As for it being the ship, Allah the Exalted says: And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.
[Ya-Sin 36:42]
So Noah became the first to make ships, the first to make them was Noah, then people took it from him. And this is a reflection on the wisdom in His saying: And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails,
[Al-Qamar: 13] And He did not say, "And We carried him on the ship." Why? To draw attention to the materials they call raw materials in the making of the ship. What are they? Planks and nails, meaning nails. Its meaning is that it is made from planks and nails so that people know by that, and this is the reality. All people knew by it and it developed... it reached what it has reached now. And His saying: and We made it a sign for the worlds.
[Al-'Ankabut 29:15]
Some scholars say, " We made it, meaning the ship itself, and that this ship remained among the nations until it was reached by the last of the nations, who are the first of this Ummah. It is said that the parts of this ship remained existing until it was reached by the first of this Ummah on al-Judi, on which it settled.
" And there is consideration in this, and the second opinion is that the pronoun in His saying: And We made it
returns to the ship by consideration of the species, not by consideration of the individual, by consideration of the species and not by consideration of the individual. So the pronoun returns to it by consideration of its species, like His saying: And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made
[Al-Mulk 67:5]
We made it, meaning the shooting stars that come out of these lamps. stones to be thrown at the devils
[Al-Mulk: 5] And as in His saying: (12) And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. (13) Then We placed him as a sperm-drop
[Al-Mu'minun 23:12-13]
We made it, from by consideration of its species and not by consideration of its individual? (12) And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. (13) Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging.
[Al-Mu'minun: 13] The human being by consideration of his individual or by consideration of his species? ... There is no pronoun in the first... (12) And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. (13) Then We placed him
[Al-Mu'minun 23:12-13]
That is, the human being. a sperm-drop in a firm lodging.
[Al-Mu'minun 23:13]
Does this pronoun return to the human being by consideration of his species or by consideration of his individual?
The student: By way of the species, because the first one...
The Shaykh : Do not make excuses... Who says? Who agrees or disagrees? By way of the species, yes, it does not fit to be by way of the individual, because... Adam was not in wombs. Is Adam, who was created from a lineage of clay, in the wombs as a drop in a secure place? No, but then We made it, meaning man by way of his species. So the pronoun refers to man by way of the species, not by way of the individual. So on this basis, His saying here: And We made it
is it the ship by way of its species or by way of its individuality? Meaning... the ship or the species of the ship? Yes, there are two opinions among the scholars. I told you: some scholars say that this ship, its individuality, remained until the last of the nations, this Ummah, reached it. And on this basis, We made it
is the ship itself. And some say: No, Noah's ship had great centuries, it broke apart, and the winds, the sun, and people destroyed it, but We made it
is the ship by way of the species... the ship is what we are talking about, yes... in any case, the matter has two opinions among the scholars, either by way of the individual or by way of the species. Yes, and We made it a sign for the worlds.
[Al-'Ankabut 29:15]
the worlds. The intended meaning of the worlds here is those after them from among the people, as the author said: " for those after them from among the people, if they disobeyed their messengers
" and this is from the author, as if he is saying that the pronoun in We made it
refers to the whole story and that it is a lesson for the worlds if they disobeyed their messengers, then what befell the people of Noah will befall them as punishment and We made it a sign for the worlds.
[Al-'Ankabut 29:15]
" for those after them from among the people if they disobeyed their messengers. And Noah lived after the flood for sixty years
" so that makes forty before the mission and sixty years after the flood, one hundred years. And nine hundred and fifty: one thousand and fifty years. But the author returned and said: sixty years or more, until the people multiplied " meaning that he did not affirm that he remained only forty years after the flood, and we say: it is of no benefit for us to know how long he remained before the message, nor to know how long he remained after the flood {Pay attention, Sami!...} because what is important? The important thing is the story. The important thing is the story that he was the first of the messengers (peace and blessings be upon him), and yet he found among his people opposition, arrogance, and rejection of his call that no other prophet like him found, because we do not know of a prophet who remained in his people for a thousand years except fifty years, except Noah.
