The reader: As for after, then the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim:
"The Third Aspect in the Dislike of Intending Them for Supplication is that".
The Shaykh : ... Yes
The reader: "The Third Aspect in the Dislike of Intending Them for Supplication: That the Salaf (may Allah be pleased with them) disliked that, interpreting in this regard the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 5:1006 as we mentioned that from 'Ali ibn al-Husayn and al-Hasan ibn al-Hasan, his cousin, and they are the most excellent of the People of the House among the Tabi'un, and the most knowledgeable about this matter than others, due to their proximity to the Prophet's Chamber by lineage and location.
And we mentioned from Ahmad and others that he ordered the one who greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions, then intended to make supplication, to turn away and face the qiblah.
Likewise, more than one of the early scholars denied that, such as Malik and others, and among the later scholars: such as Abu al-Wafa' ibn 'Aqil, and Abu al-Faraj ibn al-Jawzi. And I do not recall, not from a Companion, nor a Successor, nor a well-known Imam, that he recommended intending any of the graves for supplication at them, nor did anyone narrate anything in that regard, not from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), nor from the Companions, nor from any of the well-known Imams.
And people have authored books on supplication and its times and places, and they mentioned the reports in it, but none of them mentioned a single word regarding the virtue of supplication at any of the graves, as far as I know, so how is it permissible in this state ".
The Shaykh : In this state.
The reader: He pointed to it.
