Reading from the author's words with commentary on them and collating the manuscripts: "Chapter: And among the forbidden things are: staying at the grave and residing near it, and its guardians, and hanging curtains on it, as if it were the House of Allah, the Ka'bah. For we have explained that the very construction of a mosque on it is prohibited by the consensus of the Ummah, and is forbidden by the indication of the Sunnah. So how much more so when residing in that mosque and staying in it is added to that, as if it were the Sacred Mosque? Indeed, for some of them, staying in it is more beloved to them than staying in the Sacred Mosque.

The reader: "Chapter: And among the forbidden things are: staying at the grave and residing near it, and its guardians, and hanging curtains on it, as if it were the House of Allah, the Ka'bah. For we have explained that the very construction of a mosque on it is prohibited by the consensus of the Ummah, and is forbidden by the indication of the Sunnah. So how much more so when residing in that mosque and staying in it is added to that, as if it were the Sacred Mosque? Indeed, for some of them, staying in it is more beloved to them than staying in the Sacred Mosque".

The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah.
The reader: "For among people are those who take others besides Allah as equals, whom they love as they love Allah, while those who believe are stronger in love for Allah. Indeed, the sanctity of that mosque built on the grave, which Allah and His Messenger have forbidden, is greater in the eyes of the grave-worshippers than the sanctity of the houses of Allah"

The Shaykh : The grave-worshippers.
The reader: Listen "greater in the eyes of the grave-worshippers than the sanctity of the houses of Allah, which Allah has permitted to be raised and His Name to be mentioned therein, and which are founded on the fear of Allah and His pleasure.
And Satan has led many people to major shirk (associating partners with Allah) through these bid'ah (religious innovations), to the extent that some of them believe that visiting the shrines on the graves—whether the grave of a Prophet, a Shaykh, or some of the People of the House—is better than the Hajj to the Sacred House, and they call visiting them: the Greater Hajj. And among these are those who consider traveling to visit the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) better than the Hajj to the House. And some of them, when they arrive in Madinah, return and think that they have achieved their objective. This is because they thought that visiting graves is for supplication at them and seeking nearness to Allah through them, and asking the dead person and his supplication.
And it is known that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is better than the Ka'bah. If they knew that the objective is only the worship of Allah alone, having no partner with Him, and asking Him and supplicating to Him, and that the objective of visiting graves is supplication for them, as the objective of the funeral prayer is for the dead person, this would have disappeared from their hearts.
For this reason, many of these people ask the dead person and the absent one as they ask their Lord, saying: Forgive me and have mercy on me, and accept my repentance, and the like of that.
And for many people, the image of the Shaykh for whom aid is called appears to them, and that is a Shaytan who has spoken to them, as the Shayatins do with the worshippers of idols. And greater than that is the intention of supplication at the grave and making vows to it, or to the guardians staying at it, or to the residents near it, whether relatives or others, and the belief that by making a vow to it, the need is fulfilled or the affliction is removed. For we have explained by the word of the Truthful and the Verifier: that the vow of a prescribed act does not bring good, and that Allah has not made it a means to attain the need, as He made supplication a means for that. So how about the vow of disobedience, which is not permissible to fulfill?"
