The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon the noblest of the prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
As for what follows: Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) said in *Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim* "And for this reason, you will find that the one who listens to poems frequently in order to rectify his heart, his desire to listen to the Qur'an diminishes, until he may even come to dislike it; and the one who travels frequently to visit shrines and the like, no love or reverence remains in his heart for the Hajj to the Sacred House that is present in the heart of one whose Sunnah has been broad for him; and the one who habitually takes wisdom and etiquette from the words of the wise of Persia and Rome, no place remains in his heart for the wisdom and etiquette of Islam that was there; and the one who habitually reads the stories and biographies of kings, no concern remains in his heart for the stories and biographies of the prophets that was there; and there is much similar to this"

The Shaykh : With me, and there are many similar to this, he indicated to a manuscript
The reader: No

The Shaykh : Make it, make it a manuscript, and there are many similar to this
The reader: It says in the printed edition "and there are many similar to this"

The Shaykh : He indicated to it, conclusion, ended, yes
The student: ...

The Shaykh : How do you see it? What is the need between me and Khalid? You see the manuscripts are multiple; if my manuscript and his manuscript differ, it is, yes
The reader: "For this reason, it came in the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
no people had produced an innovation in their religion without God removing an equivalent amount from their sunna ما ابتدع قوم بدعة إلا نزع الله عنهم من السنة مثلها
Mishkat al-Masabih 188Isnād Sahīh (Zubair `Aliza'i)
narrated by Imam Ahmad. This is a matter that a person finds in himself if he looks at his own state, among scholars, worshippers, rulers, the common people, and others. For this reason, the Shari'ah greatly disapproves of those who innovate religious innovations and dislikes them, because if a person were to exit from innovations without any harm to him or benefit for him, the matter would be light. Rather, it must inevitably cause corruption for him, such as the diminishment of the benefit of the Shari'ah for him"

The Shaykh : From them
The reader: From it

The Shaykh : from it
The reader: Yes

The Shaykh : Yes
The reader: "From it, the diminishment of the benefit of the Shari'ah for him, since the heart does not have room for both the substitute and the thing being substituted. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the two pre-Islamic festivals:
Indeed, Allah has replaced them for you with two days إن الله قد أبدلكم الله بهما يومين
"

The Shaykh : Indeed, Allah
The reader: Indeed, Allah has replaced them for you

The Shaykh : Yes, good
The reader: "
Allah has substituted for them something better than them إن الله قد أبدلكم بهما يومين خيرا منهما
Sunan Abi Dawud 1134Sahih (Al-Albani)
So, his heart's nourishment from these innovated acts prevents him from nourishing himself—or from the perfection of nourishing himself—with those beneficial, lawful, righteous acts, and his state becomes corrupted for him without him realizing it, just as the body of one who feeds on corrupt food becomes corrupted without him realizing it. And by this, some of the harm of religious innovations becomes clear to you. Once this is clear, it is not hidden what Allah has placed in hearts of longing for the festival, joy in it, and concern for its affairs, in agreement, gatherings, rest, pleasure, and joy. All of this necessitates its exaltation because desires are attached to it. For this reason, the Shari'ah came regarding the festival with the proclamation of the remembrance of Allah the Exalted in it, until it included in it of the takbir in its prayer and sermon and other things what is not in the other prayers, and it established in it of the exaltation of Allah"
