Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "Not every person whose need is met by a cause is such that the cause must be prescribed and commanded. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to be asked for alms during his lifetime and he would give them, not turning away any supplicant, even though asking for alms might be forbidden for the supplicant. He even said:
I give one of them a gift and he goes out carrying it as a firebrand. They said: O Messenger of Allah, why do you give them? He said: They refuse to do anything but ask me, and Allah refuses to let me be stingy إني لأُعطي أحدهم العطية فيخرج بها يتأبطها نارا. قالوا: يا رسول الله، فلم تعطيهم ؟ قال : يأبون إلا أن يسألوني، ويأبى الله لي البخل
"
.

The Shaykh : May Allah send prayers and peace upon him.
The reader: "A man may also perform an act he believes to be good, without knowing that it is prohibited; he is rewarded for his good intention and excused for his lack of knowledge. This is a broad subject.
Most of the religious innovations in worship that are prohibited may be performed by some people, and they may derive some benefit from them, but this does not indicate that they are prescribed. In fact, if their harm were not greater than their benefit, they would not have been prohibited.
The doer may be one who interprets the text, or one who errs while exercising independent legal reasoning, or one who follows a scholar without knowing his evidence; his error is forgiven and he is rewarded for the prescribed good he performed alongside the non-prescribed, like the scholar who errs while exercising independent legal reasoning. This has been elaborated elsewhere"
.

The Shaykh : I have elaborated.
The reader: He referred to it in T: I have elaborated.

The Shaykh : Very well.
