Reading from the author's words with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "And the point here is that it is well known that Malik is among the most knowledgeable people regarding such matters

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "And the point here is that it is well known that Malik is among the most knowledgeable people regarding such matters, for he resided in Madinah, saw what the Tabi'un and those after them did, and heard what they transmitted from the Companions and the senior Tabi'un. He forbade standing at the grave for supplication and mentioned that the Salaf did not do it.
The people suffered a drought in the time of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), so he sought rain through al-Abbas. In Sahih al-Bukhari, from Anas:
‘Umar b. al-Khattab prayed for rain by virtue of al-‘Abbas b. ‘Abd al-Muttalib, and said, "O God, we used to supplicate Thee by virtue of our prophet and Thou didst give us water. We are now supplicating Thee by virtue of our prophet’s uncle, so give us water.” He said that they were then given water. أن عمر استسقى بالعباس، وقال : اللهم إنا كنا إذا أجدبنا نتوسل إليك بنبينا فتسقينا، وإنا نتوسل إليك بعم نبينا فأسقنا، فيسقون
Mishkat al-Masabih 1509
. They sought rain through him just as they used to seek rain through the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during his lifetime, which means they
.

The Shaykh : Some of the people of innovation used this report as evidence and said: It is seeking nearness to Allah through al-Abbas himself, because he said:
We seek nearness to You through the uncle of Your Prophet نتوسل إليك بعم نبيك
. But this is a matter of deception and following the ambiguous, because in the narration not in the two Sahihs it is:
Rise, O Abbas, and supplicate to Allah قم يا عباس فادع الله
. This is only a completion of the meaning. Otherwise, the fact that he says:
We seek rain from You through our Prophet نستسقي إليك بنبينا
, it is well known that they seek rain through him, asking him to supplicate, and the meaning is not that they seek rain through his person (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.
Just as they used to seek rain.
The reader: "Just as they used to seek rain through the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during his lifetime, which means they sought nearness to Allah through his supplication and his intercession for them. He would supplicate for them and they would supplicate with him, like the imam and the congregation, without swearing by Allah by a created being, just as they do not have the right to swear by one another by a created being. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) died, they sought nearness to Allah through the supplication of al-Abbas and sought rain through him. For this reason, the jurists said: It is recommended to seek rain through people of good and religion, and it is better if it is from the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "

The Shaykh : In my copy, it is "they" with the waw. Did he point to it?
The reader: No.

The Shaykh : In my copy, it is "they". Correct it.
The reader: "And it is better if it is from the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Mu'awiyah sought rain ".

The Shaykh : And the evidence for that is the action of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that he sought rain through al-Abbas. Otherwise, there is no doubt that among the people there was someone better than al-Abbas; 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was better than him, and yet he did not seek rain [through himself], but rather he asked al-Abbas to seek rain.
Likewise, it is necessary that if they are from the family of the Prophet, they must be righteous, because some of the family of the Prophet are among the most sinful of Allah's servants, even if they are Muslims. But they are open sinners who are deceived by their lineage and think that because they are close to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) by lineage, they are among those whose sins are forgiven, like the people of Badr. And this is an error. So if the family of the Prophet are not among the righteous, they are not used as a means of intercession in supplication. Yes.
The reader: "And Mu'awiyah sought rain through Yazid ibn al-Aswad al-Jarshi, and said: O Allah, we seek rain through Yazid ibn al-Aswad. O Yazid, raise your hand. So he raised his hands and supplicated, and the people supplicated until it rained ".

The Shaykh : What? Yes, is it time for questions?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : How?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : I do not know, did he come?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Okay, ask.
