If you feel that a person has something against you in their heart, should you speak to them about it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I mean, for example, if you feel that a person has something against you in their heart?

The questioner : Yes, like a change in their face.

The Shaykh : No, you must clarify it to him, because what he feels in his heart becomes complicated; it becomes complicated until it becomes a reality for him. So you must clarify it to him. You say, "By Allah, you seem sad. It seems like you have something against me today." But you see some people are overthinking; if they meet you, even if your face is as open as anything, they say, "What did I do... about something?" This is not permissible in reality, because it causes annoyance to the person. It is sound.

The questioner : May Allah forgive you, O Shaykh, regarding the word... the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)
May Allah not restore it to you لا ردّها الله عليك
Sahih Muslim 568a
... this word...

The Shaykh : Yes, we mentioned this. Did we not mention this? We mentioned that if you see that it will convince your companion and that his heart will be pleased with it if you say it, then say it. For example, regarding the mosques, this means he should feel more at ease, so say it. But if you see that he will argue with you, do not say it. The point is to say, "May Allah not return it to you."

The questioner : ... May Allah not return it to you.

The Shaykh : Ah.

The questioner : Because some people are ignorant and cannot bear it... and some people... have arrogance...
