If a person asks me about something I do not like to talk about, is it permissible for me to say, "Allah knows best"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If a person asks me about something I do not wish to discuss, is it permissible for me to say, "Allah knows best"?

The Shaykh : Yes, there is nothing wrong with it. If a questioner asks you about something you do not wish to tell him, say, "Allah knows best." However, on this occasion, I advise some people who put others in an awkward position by asking about private matters that people do not like others to know about. I say to these people: remember the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
Part of a person’s goodness in Islam is his leaving alone that which does not concern him. من حسن إسلام المرء تركه ما لا يعنيه
Sunan Ibn Majah 3976Da’if (Darussalam)
.
It is obligatory not to put people in an awkward position by asking about their private circumstances. The one being asked may say, "Allah and His Messenger know best," and he may say to this questioner:The questioner : Fear Allah, my brother, do not ask about what does not concern you, for among the good qualities of a person's Islam is that he leaves what does not concern him.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
