On the interpretation of the Sirat that we established, is it not the case that the Sirat in the Hereafter does not fit these descriptions?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : On the interpretation of the Sirat that we established...

The Shaykh : Regarding what?

The questioner : The interpretation of the Sirat.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : The Sirat in the Hereafter is confusing to me. It is called the Sirat, but these descriptions do not apply to it?

The Shaykh : The Sirat in language—we are talking about the Sirat in language. As for the Sirat that is placed over Hellfire on the Day of Resurrection, there is disagreement among the scholars. Some say that it is a wide path, and that the claim that it is thinner than a hair and sharper than a sword is questionable, because it has not been established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a connected chain of narration. Also, it has been established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he described this Sirat as slippery and treacherous. "Slippery" means that it is a place of slipping, so it must be wide. And upon it are also hooks that snatch people away by their deeds... Allah is the Greatest. Is this a follow-up question to the hadith?

The questioner : Yes, that is correct.

The Shaykh : Okay, ask your question.
