The heart is sound but the mind is defective, so his actions are invalid; how can it be said that the intellect is in the heart?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah forgive you. Regarding the heart that is in the body, the insane person now, his heart is sound, but his mind now, how do we say that he is insane?

The Shaykh : His heart is sound in sensation, but not sound in meaning, it is not sound. Then note that the problem now is that it has been established that if the brain is defective, the human being's actions are invalid, there is no doubt in this, or is there?
But Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) has a word, he said: "The intellect is in the heart and it has a connection in the brain", and some compared the heart and the brain to the generator and the light bulb, the generator?
The generator, and the light bulb illuminates, so he said the original is the generator, and the light bulb is just something that illuminates, if the light bulb breaks?
No illumination occurs, and if the generator is ruined, no illumination occurs, but the original is the generator.
And some said the brain is the secretary and the heart is the king. This secretary organizes the papers, beautifies them, and arranges them, then sends them to the king. The king either orders and it is executed, the secretary executes, or he prevents. Therefore, the perception comes before the judgment, the perception comes before the judgment. The brain depicts things, arranges them, and sends them to the king, through what?
Through veins, we do not know how that is, we do not know what its mechanism is, how it reaches the heart. Then the heart either judges and executes or prevents.
The important thing is that we, the believers, we who believe in Allah and His Messenger, the important thing is that what came explicitly in the Qur'an, we do not accept anyone's statement in it, ever. We do not accept anyone's statement in it. We say Allah knows best about it, about its mechanism. If we are guided to the way of reconciling reality with the text, that is what is required. And if we are not guided, it is obligatory to prioritize the text. And there are things that humans cannot reach.
Now there are diseases, diseases that people cannot reach, nor their causes, nor their cures, even though they are diseases that have befallen the body. How the body is formed and created, and what Allah deposited in it, and what Allah deposited in it of powers, when they asked the Messenger about the soul, Allah the Exalted said:
And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord ويسئلونك عن الروح قل الروح من أمر ربي
[Al-Isra 17:85]
It is from the affair of Allah. Then He said:
And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little." وما أوتيتم من العلم إلا قليلا
[Al-Isra 17:85]
, He rebukes them. This is a rebuke. He says, what remains for you of knowledge is only to know the soul. What is the answer?
How? We have no knowledge.
And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little." وما أوتيتم من العلم إلا قليلا
[Al-Isra 17:85]
If only knowing the soul remains for you, the matter is easy. But you were not given except a little. Yes?

The questioner : Shaykh.

The Shaykh : We took three.
