The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “They will say, ‘Our Lord, You caused us to die twice and gave us life twice, so we admitted our sins. Is there any way out?’”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This verse affirms the admission of these deniers that they disbelieved in Allah and that they are deserving of this punishment.
Among the benefits of the verse is the acknowledgment by the disbelievers of the resurrection, which they previously denied, and this is the meaning of His saying:
So we admitted our sins فاعترفنا بذنوبنا
.
Among its benefits is that on that Day, the truth and the validity of the analogy became clear to them, because they said:
You made us lifeless twice and gave us life twice أمتنا اثنتين وأحييتنا اثنتين
[Ghafir 40:11]
The first death, before the spirit was breathed into them, they have acknowledged, and worldly life they have acknowledged. When did they acknowledge it? They acknowledged it in this world while they were alive, but they denied the resurrection after death. As for now, they said: Yes, the resurrection after death is like the breathing of the spirit into the fetus. That is to say, we are now certain that what Allah the Mighty and Majestic mentioned regarding the analogy of returning to life with the beginning of creation is a reality, and that we were given life twice and caused to die twice.
Among the benefits of the noble verse is the intense regret of these people for what they did and their wishing to escape from the punishment they fell into, as indicated by their saying:
Is there any way out? فهل إلى خروج من سبيل
.
In this verse there is a difficult grammatical point, which is that His saying:
Is there any way out? فهل إلى خروج من سبيل
is a sentence lacking one of its two pillars, namely the subject (mubtada'), because what is before us now is a preposition and its object in the predicate (khabar), and in the place where the subject should be... Can the subject be in the genitive case? Therefore, the subject is "way" (sabil), upon which a superfluous preposition has entered grammatically. For this reason, we say in its parsing that it is a superfluous preposition, and "way" is a subject raised by a hidden dammah on its end, the appearance of which was prevented by the occupation of the place by the movement of the superfluous preposition.
