Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: “And He made” is a new sentence, and it is not permissible to coordinate it with the relative clause of the foreign separator “therein are mountains” as fixed mountains

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
He said:
and placed therein firmly set mountains وجعل فيها رواسي
[Ar-Ra'd 13:3]
"
made جعل
is a new sentence "
meaning it is not coordinated with
He createdخَلَق
and the wonder is that he says: " and it is not permissible to coordinate it with the relative clause of the foreign separator " this is what the author held, that his saying:
And He madeوجعل
is a new sentence, and there is no doubt that if we make it a new sentence, the speech would not be coherent, and the correct view is that it is contrary to what the author said, that
madeجعل
is coordinated with creation, meaning by the One who created the earth in two days and made therein mountains, and the foreign separator here does not harm, either because it does not harm absolutely as has been said, or because it does not harm because it is within the content of the speech and the speech is one, so the correct view is that his saying:
And He madeوجعل
is coordinated with
Created.خلق
meaning: by the One who created the earth in two days and made therein mountains, "
and placed therein firmly set mountains وجعل فيها رواسي
[Ar-Ra'd 13:3]
fixed mountains "
or is
madeجعل
here from the verbs of making something into something or from the verbs of bringing into existence? The meaning is possible: and He brought into existence therein mountains, and it is possible that it is from the verbs of making something into something, meaning He made therein mountains, and the meaning does not differ, but the grammatical analysis differs, if we say it is from the verbs of making something into something, it becomes taking two objects in the accusative, and if we say it is from the verbs of bringing into existence, it becomes taking one object in the accusative, and the author’s saying: " fixed mountains " benefited us, may Allah have mercy on him, that
Rawaasiرواسي
is a description of a described word that is omitted, and the estimation is: mountains, fixed, and
Rawaasiرواسي
means fixed,
He set therein mountainsوجعل فيها رواسي
is it permissible to omit the described word? Yes, and it is very common
And there is no described word and description that is understood where its omission is permissible, and in the description it is rare
meaning and in the described word it is frequent
[Commanding him], "Make full coats of mail أن اعمل سابغات
[Saba 34:11]
meaning complete coats of mail, the important thing is that it is frequent
and done righteous deeds عملوا الصالحات
as has passed us, the omission of the described word is frequent, because the intended meaning is the attribute and the attribute is with what? With the description, and it is present,
from above it من فوقها
meaning these mountains are from above, ... meaning He made therein mountains, yes? The first object is mountains and the second is the preposition and its noun, and his saying:
from above it من فوقها
pay attention to this word, it has a great benefit, the mountains may be from below and may be from above, is that not so? They may be from below, meaning for example one digs in the earth foundations that are fixed and become fixed, but here he said: from above them, and that is for benefits: the first benefit is the appearance of these mountains and their clarification to people so that they know thereby the wisdom of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and perhaps they would not be mountains unless they were from above, based on the fact that the earth rotates to maintain its balance, secondly: these mountains, if they are from above, have in them much benefit in repelling storms and in shelters, as is known in caves and as is known from the slopes of mountains and the hollows of mountains and the tops of mountains, of plants that would not exist without these elevations, and thirdly: that they cause the rainwater to be driven with force until it reaches lands suitable for vegetation, because you know that some of the earth is marshy with no good in it, and some are gardens that grow, so when the water falls on these mountains, on their tops and on their hollows, it falls to the earth with great force until it reaches what Allah intended to reach, and fourthly: that in the tops of the mountains there are more good minerals than in the lower earth, and for this he said:
And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might وأنزَلْنا الحديد فيه بأس شديد
[Al-Hadid 57:25]
We sent down from the tops of the mountains, and for this the scholars say: that the iron that is from the tops of the mountains is higher and stronger than that which is from below, this is what we know, and what we do not know is more, the important thing is that the word
from above itمن فوقها
has a great benefit, we have mentioned four benefits of it now.
Now "
And He placed on the earth firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it وجعل فيها رواسي من فوقها وبارك فيها
[Fussilat 41:10]
with an abundance of water, crops, and udders "
He blessed therein, meaning in the earth, and what are the greatest blessings of the earth from crops, trees, rivers, minerals, and other blessings of the earth, and the author’s saying: udders, means the udders of livestock, because livestock, whenever they are filled with spring grass, their milk increases, and whoever reflects will find that in the earth there are great blessings that carried the living and the dead, the wild animals and the beasts of prey, the livestock and the insects, and the humans, and it was spacious as well with the abundance of what is in it, now these living beings on the face of the earth, if people were to live until now, you would see a terrible and difficult matter, but Allah made the earth a cover for the living and the dead, and this is one of its blessings.
and determined therein its [creatures'] sustenance وقدَّر فيها أقواتها
[Fussilat 41:10]
He determinedقدَّر
The author said: " He apportioned
therein its sustenance فيها أقواتها
for people and livestock "
to the end, He apportioned therein the provisions, he says: He apportioned from apportionment, and it is division, He apportioned the provisions and did not make the provision in one side of the earth, if it were in one side of the earth, this would be very difficult for people, is that not so? If it were apportioned, for example, that the provisions are not to be except in the west of the globe, how would the people of the east live, or conversely, how would the people of the west live, but it is apportioned, then He apportioned it from another aspect, He made in these lands what is not suitable in the other lands, and the reverse, the wisdom: in order that people exchange provisions, so the people who do not have this type of provision go to the lands that have this provision, they bring it to the land that lacks it, and likewise the reverse, in some parts of the earth, palm trees and grapes are abundant, but citrus and the like are scarce, and there are also many things, I am not one of the people of agriculture, but there are many things that are suitable in one place and not in another, in order that exchange occurs between people and traveling in the earth seeking sustenance, and this is from the wisdom in his saying:
and determined therein its [creatures'] sustenance وقدر فيها أقواتها
[Fussilat 41:10]
.
And He placed on the earth firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it and determined therein its [creatures'] sustenance in four days without distinction - for [the information] of those who ask. في أربعة أيام
[Fussilat 41:10]
"
in في
the completion of
four days أربعة أيام
meaning the making and what was mentioned with it was on Tuesday and Wednesday "
if the creation of the earth, its beginning, was on Sunday and Monday, then he said: in four days, what would the remainder be? Tuesday and Wednesday, so the earth was created and its provisions were apportioned in four days.
Allah the Exalted said:
equal for those who ask سواءً للسائلين
" [It is] in the accusative case as a verbal noun, meaning the four [days] were equal in a manner that neither increases nor decreases " So he benefited us by saying:
it was equal, equalityاستوت استواء
that "sawa'" is a verbal noun, so his statement:
in the accusative case as a verbal nounمنصوب على المصدر
contains a deviation, because if we say:
It is the sameسواء
verbal noun
Istawa (He rose)استوى
it does not align with the rule, because the rule is that the verbal noun matches the verb in its letters, and here
Istawa (He rose)استوى
does not match them
equalسَواء
but what matches them is
equalityاستواء
So then
It is the sameسواء
becomes a verbal noun like "kallama" and the verbal noun is "taklim" and the name of the verbal noun is
speechكلام
, okay, here
Istawa (He rose)استوى
and the verbal noun is
rising above the Throneاستِوَاءٌ
and the name of the verbal noun is
It is the sameسواء
The important thing is that his statement:
It is the sameسواء
means that this creation encompassed all four [days], it was not in two or three days, but in all four days, so according to this, his statement: " [It is] in the accusative case as a verbal noun " the correct thing to say is: that it is an absolute object, meaning the four [days] were equal in a manner that neither increases nor decreases, "
for those who ask للسائلين
regarding the creation of the earth and what is in it "
for those who askللسائلين
Do not think that this is connected to "sawa'" but it is the answer to a deleted statement, meaning: this is the answer to the questioners or similar to this word, the important thing is that his statement:
for those who askللسائلين
indicates that what was mentioned is the answer to those who asked about the creation of the earth and its provisions, that it was in four days equally
