Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And whatever you differ about, its judgment is to Allah. That is Allah, my Lord; upon Him I rely, and to Him I turn.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah. وما اختلفتم فيه من شيء فحكمه إلى الله
[Ash-Shuraa 42:10]
“Ma” is a conditional particle, “wa ikhtalamtum” is the verb of the condition, and “fa hukmuhu ila Allah” is the clause answering the condition. His statement:
And in anything over which you disagree وما اختلفتم فيه من شيء
[Ash-Shuraa 42:10]
means that whatever dispute arises among people, its reference is to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), whether it concerns religious matters or worldly matters, and whether it is with the believers or with the disbelievers. Whatever it is, its judgment is to Allah (Mighty and Majestic); no one refers to His judgment except Allah.
