Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And you will not escape in the earth, and you have no protector or helper besides Allah.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Allah the Exalted said:
And you will not cause failure [to Allah] upon the earth. And you have not besides Allah any protector or helper. وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلا نَصِيرٍ
[Surat al-Shura: 31]. The word *ma* is a negative particle that functions like *laysa* in the language of the Hijazis, and the Noble Qur'an was revealed in their language. Therefore, in His saying:
You أنتم
, *antum* is the subject, and
with those who escape بمعجزين
is the predicate. However, it is accompanied by the extra letter *ba*, which is extra in terms of grammar but not in terms of meaning. That is, grammatically it is extra, meaning the sentence would be complete if it were removed, but semantically it is not extra; rather, it is beneficial. The benefit of extra letters is emphasis; whenever an extra letter comes to you, it is for emphasizing generality. He says:
you will not cause failure [to Allah] upon the earth ما أنتم بمعجزين في الأرض
[Al-'Ankabut 29:22]
, meaning you will not escape Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) if He seeks you out; you will not be able to escape Him in the earth.
