Explanation of the author's statement: The eighth: That *taghut* is a general term for everything worshipped other than Allah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"The eighth: That *taghut* is a general term for everything worshipped other than Allah". Everything worshipped other than Allah is *taghut*. However, Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) gave a good and excellent definition of *taghut*, saying: "*Taghut* is everything by which a person exceeds his limit—meaning from transgression—everything by which a person exceeds his limit, whether it is an object of worship, a person followed, or a person obeyed". An object of worship, like an idol; a person followed, like a scholar; or a person obeyed, like a ruler, for example. So whatever it is by which a person exceeds his limit, whether it is an object of worship, a person followed, or a person obeyed, it is *taghut*. Good. He says: "The ninth: The great significance of the three clear verses in Surat al-An'am according to the Salaf, and it contains ten issues". "According to the Salaf"—the word... the general Salaf of this Ummah. And the evidence for this is also... he said: "Whoever wants to look at the will of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that is on his seal, let him read these verses." And his saying: "the clear verses" means those in which there is no abrogation, because none of the rulings in them have been abrogated. "And it contains ten issues, the first of which is the prohibition of shirk". From where?
Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him قل تعالوا اتل ما حرم ربكم عليكم ألا تشركوا به شيئا
[Al-An'am 6:151]
The prohibition of shirk. And the tenth. Good. The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "And it contains ten issues, the first of which is the prohibition of shirk", and he left the rest, meaning he only brought the proof. Yes, and he left the other issues for the student of knowledge. And a person, if he reflects on them, will find them, or more than these as well.
The tenth of the issues of this chapter: "The clear verses in Surat al-Isra", which is His saying, Exalted is He:
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment
[Al-Isra 17:23]
"And it contains eighteen". Here.
The student: Eighteen.

The Shaykh : And it contains eighteen.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : You have the correct one, and it contains eighteen issues. "And it contains eighteen issues. Allah began them with His saying:
Do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity and [thereby] become censured and forsaken.
[Al-Isra 17:22]
and concluded them with His saying:
And, [O mankind], do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished.
[Al-Isra 17:39]
And Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, drew our attention to the great significance of these issues by His saying:
That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of wisdom
[Al-Isra 17:39]
"
. (May Allah have mercy on him)... Shaykh Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him). He began them with His saying:
Do not set up with Allah another deity.
. And this is a prohibition of shirk.
And you will sit
. And the one who sits is not standing, meaning you do not tire... because there is no good for one who associates partners with Allah.
Blamed and defeated
. Condemned by whom? By Allah and His awliya (close friends of Allah). Forsaken, not supported, neither in this world nor in the Hereafter. And He concluded them with His saying:
And, [O mankind], do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished.
[Al-Isra 17:39]
—I seek refuge in Allah—this is the reward, and that is the effort. Your effort is condemned and your command is forsaken. And this is your punishment: that you are blamed and forsaken, rebuked... and I seek refuge in Allah. If one is thrown into the Fire, everyone is blamed and forsaken, driven away, and I seek refuge in Allah. And Allah drew our attention to the great significance of these issues by His saying:
That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of wisdom
[Al-Isra 17:39]
. Allah is Great. "That is part of what," and not all of it, and not all of it. "Part of what your Lord has revealed to you of wisdom." Yes, and they are... yes, they are very great rulings. Therefore, we want you to help each other with them... it contains ten issues.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Ah?
The student: The remaining nine.

The Shaykh : The remaining nine. And the second one has eighteen issues, so the remaining are seventeen. Seventeen or sixteen, meaning
That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of wisdom
[Al-Isra 17:39]
. This is one of the issues. Good, the time is over.
The student: We will complete it today.

The Shaykh : Ah?
The student: In ten issues.

The Shaykh : And even though this tenth... the fourth...
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Ah?
The student: Recitation.

The Shaykh : Recitation without understanding, what is the benefit?

The questioner : I have a question for you, O Shaykh... "other than Allah," is it not restricted?

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: It is not restricted...

The Shaykh : No, no. As for the worshipper, and as for... as for the worshipper, as for the worshipper, meaning *taghut* in the sense of transgression, meaning the transgression of the person when he worships anything other than Allah. The meaning is not the object of worship. Therefore, we say *taghut* means that by which a person exceeds his limit. As for what is worshipped but not accepted, it is not *taghut*.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Is Isa (peace be upon him) *taghut*? Here, I seek refuge in Allah. Yes.

The questioner : We said in... that this is an understanding.

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : And what led to knowledge...

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : Why... that he entered the Fire because of not feeding.

The Shaykh : Yes, because Allah is narrating.

The questioner : And we say, we are the cause of the disagreement...

The Shaykh : Yes, we said that at the beginning, He will forgive your sins, because Allah, the Exalted, said:
(11) [It is that] you believe in Allah and His Messenger and strive in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is best for you, if you should know. (12) He will forgive for you your sins and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence. That is the great attainment.
[As-Saf 61:11-12]
He will forgive your sins. So He made it clear that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, forgives all sins by faith and righteous deeds. This indicates that those people understood this understanding, and that all sins are not forgiven. And as for the issue of... Allah narrated it and approved it, and there is nothing in the Qur'an that contradicts it.
The student: Good, there He approved it.

The Shaykh : He did not approve it, because there is something in the Qur'an that contradicts it, which is His saying:
forgive you your sins
[Ali 'Imran 3:31]

The student: It is not...

The Shaykh : No, it is far, far, because they are included in the attributes. O you who believe, yes.
The student: Is this... specific to Paradise?

The Shaykh : No, is it specific to the jinn?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : No, it is not specific to the jinn.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : He said, all sins. This is the basis of those who said that... from Paradise. They said there is no one in Paradise... we say no...

The questioner : The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
... ...

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : No, it is not...

The questioner : Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : The hadith ...

The Shaykh : Yes, yes.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : The majority are of the opposite opinion, that he does not testify for anyone except for those for whom the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) testified. And Shaykh al-Islam chose that whoever the Ummah testifies for, as is the case, he testifies for him with Paradise.

The questioner : He is judged.

The Shaykh : And you may judge him, yes.

The questioner : Al-Junah with a damma, what does it mean?

The Shaykh : Al-Jannah in the sense of protection, like His saying, Exalted is He:
They took their [false] oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah
[Al-Mujadila 58:16]
, meaning protection.

The questioner : He testifies for them in that, even if...

The Shaykh : Who?

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Even if after his death.

The questioner : No, in his life?

The Shaykh : No, in his life. Perhaps he changes. If one of you does the deeds of the people of Paradise in what appears to people, but he is from the people of the Fire.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You
