Explanation of the author's statement: His saying: "And that 'Isa is the servant of Allah and His Messenger."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The second: "And that 'Isa is the servant of Allah and His Messenger" We say about this what we said about Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), except that we believe in the message of 'Isa, but we are not commanded to follow him if his law departs from our law. However, if it agrees with our law or does not contradict it, then it is our law. Therefore, the law of those before us has three states with regard to our law: sometimes it contradicts it, in which case we act according to our law; sometimes it agrees with it, in which case we follow our law and we follow this law about which it was said to us
Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, so follow their guidance أولئك الذين هدى الله فبهداهم اقتده
; and sometimes what is in the law of others is silent upon in our law. Here, the scholars differed: do we act upon it or leave it? The correct opinion among the scholars of usul al-fiqh (the principles of jurisprudence) is that it is a law for us, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, so follow their guidance أولئك الذين هدى الله فبهداهم اقتده
and His saying:
There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding لقد كان في قصصهم عبرة لأولي الألباب
[Yusuf 12:111]
Two groups have gone to extremes regarding 'Isa. One group denied him and said that he was the son of a fornicator and that his mother was a prostitute. Yes, and they killed him by the judgment of Allah, but they did not kill him by the decree of Allah. Who are these?
The student: The Jews.

The Shaykh : Well, these Jews denied 'Isa. They said, "He is never a prophet. 'Isa, may Allah protect us, is the son of a prostitute." We ask Allah for safety. Even though Allah says:
And her mother was a truthful woman وأمه صديقة
They said, "Kill him," so they killed him, but they did not crucify him. Rather, they killed him and did not crucify him by a legal judgment, not by a decree of fate. They were deluded, so they killed this delusion and crucified it. They said, "We killed the Messiah, 'Isa ibn Maryam." So they were murderers of him in the legal judgment of Allah, but in the decree of Allah,
And they did not kill him, for certain. (158) Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. وما قتلوه يقينا بل رفعه الله إليه
[An-Nisa 4:157-158]

And a second group of extremists, a second group of extremists in this matter, said that he is the son of Allah and that he is the third of three, and they made him a god alongside Allah. Who are these?
The student: The Christians.

The Shaykh : The Christians, and they are liars in what they said. We disavow to Allah the Exalted what they said about him, and we disavow to Allah what the Jews said about him as well. We testify that he is 'Isa, the servant of Allah and His Messenger, and that his mother is a truthful woman who chaste her private parts and that she is a virgin. But 'Isa is like Adam in the sight of Allah: He created him from dust, then said to him, "Be," and he was. Yes.
The student: Shaykh, in their law, the Jews killed the son of a fornicator, meaning?

The Shaykh : No, never. They denied him.
The student: But you said they killed him by law.

The Shaykh : Yes, they killed him by law, meaning in the legal judgment of Allah. That is, Allah judged them by law that they are murderers by law. Yes.
The reader: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "From 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, and that 'Isa is the servant of Allah and His Messenger, and His word which He cast to Maryam, and a spirit from Him, and that Paradise is true and the Fire is true, Allah will admit him to Paradise regardless of what his deeds were.'" They both narrated it.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
It has been mentioned to us that the testimony must have three pillars. What are they, O 'Abdullah al-Shamsan?
The student: Knowledge.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: Testifying that there is no god but Allah.

The Shaykh : Yes, the testimony.
The student: The testimony...

The Shaykh : Yes, it has pillars.
The student: Knowledge.

The Shaykh : We mentioned believing in it.
The student: Action with the limbs.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: And... belief with the heart.

The Shaykh : Yes, affirmation with the heart.
The student: Affirmation with the heart, action with the limbs, and speech with the tongue.

The Shaykh : Yes, whether in the testimony that there is no god but Allah or that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Well, but... regarding Allah, you do it for Him, whereas regarding the Messenger, you do it with him.
The student: For Him.

The Shaykh : No, you do not do it with him; you do it for Him.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, yes. He said: "And that 'Isa is the servant of Allah and His Messenger" We spoke about this, and in this is a refutation of the Jews and the Christians. The Jews said he is not a messenger, and the Christians said he is not a servant, but rather the third of three. In this hadith is a refutation of them, of the Jews and the Christians.
