Some Evidence for the Descent of 'Isa (peace be upon him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We begin first with a message from Muhammad Taha, from the Syrian Republic, Tartus Governorate, Baniyas. He says in his message:
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
I have listened to your program and I have loved it very much; therefore, like the rest of the Muslims in all parts of the earth, we bear witness to the truth that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and those in charge of it, are a pioneer in the Islamic world; for establishing such Islamic programs on the Nida al-Islam radio, and on the Noble Qur'an radio, which aims to guide Muslims in the matters of their religion. May Allah guide them, facilitate for them every task, and increase their diligence in spreading Islam and encouraging Muslims.
I have a question that I hope will be presented on the Nur 'ala al-Darb program. The listener says in his question: We often discuss—meaning: we converse—my friends and I about what is said regarding the descent of 'Isa (peace be upon him). So I hope you will provide us with information if there is any indication or reference in the Noble Qur'an, or the Noble Prophetic Sunnah, to this meaning. It is said that there is a Noble Hadith on this specific matter; is this correct?
May Allah guide you and bless you.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and whoever follows his guidance. As for what follows:
The hadiths have been mass-transmitted from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informing about the descent of 'Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him), and that he will descend in the end of times in Damascus, and that he will head to Palestine after the descent of the Dajjal, and that he will kill him there at Bab al-Lad, with the Muslims with him. It is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he will come to the Muslims while they are standing for prayer, and their leader will want to delay so that the Prophet of Allah, 'Isa (peace be upon him), can lead the people in prayer, but 'Isa will refuse and say: "It was established for you, so lead them in prayer."
It came in some good narrations that their leader at that time is the Mahdi, who is Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah, from the house of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and from the descendants of Fatimah. So the Mahdi will say to him: "Go ahead, O Spirit of Allah." He will refuse and say: "You pray; for it was established for you." Then 'Isa (peace be upon him) will take over the leadership after that.
His descent is a matter agreed upon by the people of knowledge, and it is established by the established texts from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The hadiths have been mass-transmitted regarding it, and there is no doubt in it, praise be to Allah. He will descend in the end of times after the emergence of the lying Dajjal, and he will make clear to the people his lie and his misguidance, and he will take charge of killing him (peace be upon him). The Qur'an has referred to this in His saying (Exalted and Majestic is He), when He mentioned 'Isa:
And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of itوَإِنَّهُ لَعِلْمٌ لِلسَّاعَةِ فَلا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا
[Al-Zukhruf: 61], meaning: his descent and his coming. Some reciters read it as (‘alam) with an open ‘ayn and lam; meaning: a sign of its nearness. And He said (Exalted and Majestic is He) in Surat al-Nisa:
Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.بَلْ رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا
[Al-Nisa: 158], then He said after it:
And there is none from the People of the Scripture but that he will surely believe in Jesus before his deathوَإِنْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ
[An-Nisa 4:159]
So the pronoun in "his death" refers to 'Isa, and it is said that it refers to the Jew or the Christian, and that before his death he will believe in the descent of 'Isa (peace be upon him).
In any case, the verse points to that, whether it is said that the pronoun refers to the individual from the People of the Book, and that he will believe in him before his soul departs, or in the sense that when 'Isa (peace be upon him) descends, the People of the Book at that time will believe in him before 'Isa (peace be upon him) dies. He will die after that; he will remain on earth as long as Allah wills, then he will die, and the Muslims will pray over him and bury him.
It came in some narrations what indicates that he will be buried in the Prophet's Chamber, but there is a consideration regarding the authenticity of that. In any case, he will descend without doubt, and he will rule on earth with the Shari'ah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Muslims will follow him. Wealth will be abundant in his time, the lands will be secure, and all people will be safe, for he will not accept from people anything but Islam, or the sword. And Allah will destroy in his time all religions except Islam. He will break the cross, kill the pig, and abolish the jizyah, meaning: he will leave the jizyah, not taking it from anyone. And worship will be for Allah alone in his time, due to the great signs and decisive indications of the nearness of the Hour that occurred with him. So people will believe in his time, and he will strive against them with the sword, until people enter the religion of Allah. Some of them will enter due to the manifestation of the proofs of the truth and the truthfulness of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in what he informed about, and some of them will have their Islam as a result of the jihad that 'Isa (peace be upon him) and the Muslims will carry out.
The summary is: that his descent is the truth, and that it is established by the consensus of the Muslims, and its basis is the mass-transmitted hadiths. It is established in the mass-transmitted, definitive hadiths regarding his descent (peace be upon him), and the Noble Qur'an has referred to it as mentioned above.
So it is obligatory for all Muslims to believe in it, and to hold the belief in his descent in the end of times, and that he will descend in reality, and that he will call to the oneness of Allah, and belief in Him, and that he will act according to the Shari'ah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and rule by it on earth; for there is no prophet after Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). So he will descend following Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), ruling by his Shari'ah, not by the previous Shari'ah of the Torah, but he will rule by the Shari'ah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), ruling by the Qur'an. This is what the people of Islam have agreed upon, and the authentic, mass-transmitted hadiths have indicated it, and the Noble Qur'an has referred to it.
So it is obligatory for all Muslims to hold this belief, and not to pay attention to what some of the later scholars have said in denying his descent, and interpreting it as meaning that good will appear in the end of times, and that he expressed this by the appearance of good, and that he expressed the Dajjal by the appearance of evil. All these statements are defective and invalid, and it is feared for their speakers that they have committed disbelief in Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) because they lied about a clear matter, which came in the authentic, mass-transmitted Sunnah. So it is not permissible to pay attention to that, but rather it is obligatory to believe and be certain that the emergence of the Dajjal is the truth in the end of times, and that he is a liar from the children of Adam who will emerge in the end of times, claiming to be a prophet, then claiming to be the Lord of the worlds. And thus 'Isa will descend after that and kill this Dajjal, and he will be the Imam of the Muslims in his time, and he will rule by the Shari'ah of Allah. This is the truth in which there is no doubt, and the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Muslims after them have agreed upon it. Yes.

The presenter: In his saying: "(and he will abolish the jizyah)," does this indicate that there is no disbeliever, or someone of that sort?

The Shaykh: No, it means he does not accept it, he does not accept it from the Jews and the Christians. And this indicates that the taking of the jizyah is temporary in the Shari'ah of Muhammad, meaning: temporary until the descent of 'Isa. So when 'Isa descends, it is not accepted. So this is a legislation from the legislation of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified in the authentic hadiths that 'Isa does not accept it; because its matter has ended, and there is no need for it. Rather, they must submit to Islam, and leave the rebellion against Islam, and the clinging to Judaism and Christianity. And 'Isa (peace be upon him) must fight whoever refuses that until they enter the religion of Allah. Yes.

The presenter: Also, does this hadith indicate the obligation of killing the pig by the Muslims?

The Shaykh: It appears from this that the pig is among the animals that should be destroyed; because it is among the forbidden things in the Shari'ah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him); and because its remaining is a means for the Jews and the Christians, or others, to eat it, and it is forbidden by the text of the Noble Book. So it may be derived from this hadith that it is killed when found, its destruction and removal from existence, and that what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned in the story of 'Isa points to this meaning and benefits from it.
And it is possible to say: that it is not killed except after the descent of 'Isa (peace be upon him); because it was mentioned in the story of 'Isa and his descent, so its killing is delayed, just as the abolishing of the jizyah is delayed until his descent (peace be upon him). This is a matter of possibility, and it needs further research and attention from the side of the Shari'ah evidence, for not every forbidden thing is killed. The dog is forbidden and is not killed except if it harms by biting or otherwise, and the cat is forbidden to eat, and yet it is not killed except if it harms, and donkeys are forbidden to eat and are not killed. So the pig is forbidden to eat, and its prohibition does not necessitate that it be killed, except if one relies on this hadith, and there is no opposing evidence, which is the killing of the pig by 'Isa. So this is a matter of consideration, and a matter of possibility, and it needs further research. Yes.
