Continuation of the explanation of the author's statement and his saying: (. . . . . .

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, regarding his statement:
He lies with it a hundred lies يكذب معها مئة كذبة
Is this a specific number, or does it mean that he lies with it many lies? This is the closest, this is the closest, because it is not necessary that the fortune-teller lies exactly a hundred times. He may lie a hundred times, he may lie more, and he may lie less. The important thing is that he adds many extra statements based on this word. It is said: Did he not tell us on such-and-such a day, such-and-such? On such-and-such a day, such-and-such? Yes, on such-and-such a day, such-and-such? On such-and-such a day.
The student: Only on such-and-such a day.

The Shaykh : But where is the content of the statement? If you have it, is it not that he said on such-and-such a day, such-and-such?
The student: He told us on such-and-such a day, and he is believed by that word.

The Shaykh : It is possible that in your version, the content of the statement is omitted, otherwise there must be a content to the statement. He is believed by that word which was heard from the sky. Who is believed? The fortune-teller? Or is the one speaking about the fortune-teller? I mean, the fortune-teller has devils. Some people may justify the fortune-teller's work by saying: Did he not tell us on such-and-such a day, such-and-such? And he is believed by that word which was heard. People, in these strange matters, when the strange event happens according to what the informer reported, they take it that everything he says is true. So if he reports something and it happens, and then he reports something else, they say: Then it must happen, because the man was truthful. He told us such-and-such and it happened, so he is truthful in what he reports about the unseen. This hadith indicates to us many benefits, among which is: establishing the speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And among them is: the greatness of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). And among them is: that the angels have wings. And among them is: that they fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and submit to Him. And among them is: that the angels speak and understand. And among them is: that nothing issues from Allah but the truth. And among them is: that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) allows these devils, the eavesdroppers, to reach the sky as a trial for people, because Allah is capable of preventing them from this, but they are allowed as a trial. What is the trial that occurs? What they throw to the fortune-tellers, and through that a trial occurs. And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is Wise. There may be things that are misguidance for some people, but for others they are guidance... and following. And among them is: the multitude of the jinn, because they take turns to the sky, and the meaning of that is that they are very numerous. I mean, the sky is a great distance between us and it, and all of these take turns until they reach the sky, so they are very numerous. Yes.

The questioner : How ... .

The Shaykh : They are light, they are not... heavy.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : No, they have bodies, but they are very light, light. And therefore they fly, I mean, they fly according to what we have heard about them, and it is also the apparent meaning from this. I mean, if it were not for their lightness, they would not have ascended to reach the sky without devices and without tangible causes.

The questioner : The sorcerers...

The Shaykh : No, this is illusion.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : This is illusion. We used to hear stories indicating the speed of the jinn. The Shaykh al-Islam also mentioned this about them, regarding the sorcerers who use the jinn and fly with them. They become in their lands on the Day of 'Arafah and stand with the people at 'Arafah. This is with airplanes now... it is possible, but at that time there were no airplanes, but these devils carry them and they make brooms for people... He says: I can ride on the broom and fly to Makkah, and they do this. The Shaykh al-Islam says that these people are liars in any case, that the devils carry them, and that they are bad even from a practical standpoint, because they pass by the miqat and do not enter ihram from it. Yes, this is for us at the present time, that the scholars see that the rider of airplanes must enter ihram when he passes by the miqat. If we were asked whether any of the scholars spoke about this issue... Praise be to Allah, they spoke about it. We said: Yes. So the important thing is that they have a great, astonishing speed. Yes. And also the story of Sulayman (peace be upon him), he said: I will bring it to you before you rise from your place. And this was in Yemen, the throne, and Sulayman was in Sham. This is what indicates their speed.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes,
I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you. أنا آتيك به قبل أن يرتد إليك طرفك
[An-Naml 27:40]
This is by the power of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), for he called upon Allah and it was present.
Now, and among the benefits of this hadith is also: that the fortune-tellers are among the most lying of people, or they are the most lying of people. And for this reason, they add to what they heard great lies, by which they deceive people and reach their falsehood. Sometimes they terrify people, sometimes they entice them, sometimes they say to people... a relative of yours will die, yes... and the like of that. So they reach their falsehood with these lies. What do they rely on? On the word that was true, which they heard from the sky through the eavesdropper.

The questioner : There are people who say they drink this coffee and then turn over the cup, sometimes... but how is this?

The Shaykh : This is not permissible to believe in. This is the fortune-teller.

The questioner : But what does he rely on?

The Shaykh : ... He may be knowledgeable about this thing, but he made this toy in front of people only... Yes.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : The same eye errs in what it sees.

The questioner : The seeing eye.

The Shaykh : The seeing eye that was affected by the sorcery, as for the other eye, they do not tell us a story. I do not know, it is circulated among the common people that there was a man, a man who had a palm tree, you know the palm, it is well known, it does not need to be stripped by the strippers, that they take the fresh dates, the fresh dates at once, but in large quantities. They bring a large pot and put the fresh dates in it. One of the attendees came and said: I can plunge into this fresh date, and the fresh date is soft, I can plunge into this fresh date in the middle of the pot and come out of it without being soiled by it or the fresh date being spoiled. They said: It is absolutely impossible. He said: I will do this. He stood up and did this. Yes, he did this, and in the middle of the pot and in the fresh date... and there was nothing, nothing came to him, and the fresh date was fine. They said the one above the palm tree said to them: Look, he is moving outside the pot, but he is a sorcerer.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : He said: He raised his face to him and said: I did not cast sorcery on you... He sent the sorcery on them, he did not send it. Yes, this is yes.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : This is something, I mean, well-known among people in the Qur'an. When Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) mentioned what the sorcerers of the family of Pharaoh did, He said:
seemed to him from their magic that they were moving يُخيل إليه من سحرهم أنها تسعى
[Taha 20:66]
The word "it is made to appear" is evidence that the reality is the opposite of that.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : This is the apparent meaning, yes, the apparent meaning... because you now want to look, what does it dominate? ... or your sight.

The questioner : It is a reality...

The Shaykh : ... a person moved it, we do not know...

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : If he looked, it means that the reality was turned for him.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : By Allah, I do not know, but I do not know, the apparent meaning...

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : If it is curled.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : They say that sorcery does not have an effect.

The questioner : It does not have an effect on...

The Shaykh : And in this hadith is the warning against the people of deception and camouflage, and that even if they are truthful or hit the mark in something, be on guard against them.
