Speaking about contagion.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And they are not afflicted, and they are not afflicted. Yes, and sometimes it transfers from this person to his neighbor. And cholera is not far off; cholera enters the house and afflicts one person, and perhaps it afflicts two, three, or four, and the rest are saved.
We were told of a year that passed through the people of Najd, whom the people of Najd call by a good name, calling it the Year of Mercy. There was an epidemic in it, and Allah knows best if it was cholera. They told us that some of the Yaboot tribe were afflicted by this epidemic, and they died except for one. They singled out the family of so-and-so; the epidemic entered their house, and they were eleven people. Ten of them died, and one remained. Now, even though he was exposed to the calamity, he was saved. And even contagion from rapidly spreading diseases does not occur except by the permission of Allah. So you should rely on Allah the Exalted and place your trust in Him. It was narrated that a man with leprosy came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his hand. He said to him:
Every كل
from the food that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was eating from.
Every [meal] with Bismillah كل بسم الله
Why? Because of the strength of the Messenger of Allah’s (peace and blessings be upon him) trust in Allah. So this strong trust is a resistance to this contagious cause. Allah is the Greatest.
It is not an intrinsic effect such that it never fails to occur, but rather it is from Allah the Exalted. So denying it is a denial of its effect by itself.
Now, is the existence of contagion established, Ya Mustafa? Is it established?
The student: Yes, its existence is established.

The Shaykh : And what is the evidence?
The student: It is a reality that it has an effect.

The Shaykh : That it has an intrinsic effect by itself. And how many people have come into contact with the sick and were not afflicted by contagion, and how many people were far from them and were afflicted, and how many lands have nothing of this disease at all, yes, yet it occurs in them. For this reason, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
So who infected the first one? فمن أعدى الأول ؟
when the Bedouin asked him about camels that are healthy, with no scab, and then much scab is found in one of them, and it spreads to the rest. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
So who infected the first one? فمن أعدى الأول ؟
Now.
