The ruling on raising the hands during the supplication in the Friday sermon

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on one who raises his hands while the khatib is making supplication for the Muslims in the second part of the sermon, with evidence? May Allah reward you.

Answer:
Raising the hands is not prescribed in the Friday sermon, nor in the sermon for the festivals, neither for the imam nor for the congregation. What is prescribed is to listen to the khatib and to say "Ameen" to his supplication between himself and his soul, without raising his voice. As for raising the hands, it is not prescribed; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not raise his hands in the Friday sermon, nor in the sermons for the festivals.
And when some of the Companions saw some of the rulers raising their hands in the Friday sermon, they disapproved of that, and said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not raise them.
Yes, if he is calling for aid in the Friday sermon for the prayer for rain, then he raises his hands in the state of calling for aid—that is, asking for the rain to fall—because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his hands in this case. So if he asks for rain in the Friday sermon or in the sermon for the festival, it is prescribed for him to raise his hands, following the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
